Bamboo problem

I have two bamboo plants in two seperate containers in my apartment. I bought one from Epcot and put it in a tall glass with nothing but water in it. The other one is in a little pot with marbles in it.

Both plants seem to be dying. The plant in the marbled pot already had a dead shoot when I 'inherited' it, but the other two shoots seemed ok.

How much water should bamboo get?

What else should I be doing to these plants to help them thrive?

Thanks.

Are these the lucky bamboo plants that looks like a stick with leaves? We had them in a container with marbles and they grew really well. There were alot of roots that came out of it. Change the water regularly, and if you think it is going to die, and there are some roots, try planting it in dirt.
Our first bamboo eventually did die.

I don't know much about Bamboo other than how difficult it is to remove. I just wanted to say WELCOME!

i read that lucky bamboo does not require too much water, so don't water it alot, but once or twice a week you're supposed to flush out the rocks to keep from getting diseased. But I think you ARE supposed to keep rocks in there so the roots can grow around. i've had a lucky bamboo plant for about 2 years. It does real well, but I read not to keep it in too much light either, or the leaves will turn yellow instead of green. I hope these tips help.

tricia.

I have had my bamboo plant for 4 years now. My mom got in Californa for me in China Town and she brought it all the way back to Indiana on the plane. It is in a ceramic pot with rocks and of course water. Lat year at this time one if the shoots turned yellow and died. Then just last week I noticed that another one was yellowing and now it is just about dead. I guess I should take everything out and rinse them off. I only have 3 left. :(
it has never really gotten much bigger. Maybe it is because we have well water. it has casue a ring around the pot becasue the water is so hard. I hope that I can same my last sprouts. They are special to me.

I've had some for awhile...one started to yellow and dry out closer to the root and I knew it wouldn't be long before the whole thing went. I cut the plant at the base of the leaves and put that in water. It started sprouting roots like mad and is healthy for now...have no idea where it's going to go from here.

Mine are constantly immersed and in a bed of small pebbles. I've had to separate the stems into their own vases as the roots grew bigger and more demanding.
