I'm looking for a nice, affordable hotel within walking distance to Inner Harbor (walking distance with kids). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

We got a good deal through Expedia last year at the Pier 5. Not sure what the rates are now, though. It was a great hotel.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites on President Street, short walk to the Inner Harbor attractions and it is a brand new hotel. Free breakfast included.

I stayed at the Residence Inn at the Inner Harbor when my late husband had surgery at Johns Hopkins. Hotel was was very nice with a breakfast buffet and evening offerings. I had a one bedroom with a kitchen and living room. It was two blocks from the Harbor.

Have a look at the Homewood Suites on President ave (inner harbor)
Near a CVS and Whole foods.
Access to a nice indoor pool.
Free breakfast.
suites have full kitchens

Google Springhill Suites Inner Harbor VERY nice and walking distance to the harbor-this also includes breakfast

If you bid on Priceline Inner Harbor (ONLY four star hotels) you will have a very nice chance of getting a great hotel. I have stayed at the Hyatt, Rennaissance, and Marriot for under $100 each time, right on the Harbor. See www.biddingfortravel.com for a bidding strategy.

If I was going to stay in Baltimore for the first time, I would stay at the Marriott, Sheraton or Rennaissance. They are located directly across from the Harbor and centrally located to attractions. Facing the Harbor: Directly in front would be the Pavilions, Aquarium, submarine & Science Center. To the right would be Camden Yards, Babe Ruth Place and B&O Train Museum. To the left would be Port Discovery, Shot Tower and Little Italy.

Because I live an hour away I've never stayed overnight in the hotels, however I've attended various functions in them. They seem clean, etc. The area right around them is populated enough to feel safe but it is a city... If you are going to leave the general tourist areas be sure to talk with the hotel staff to ensure you aren't wandering into a less desirable place. I'm not a city girl so there are a few areas off of the main tourist sections I won't venture.

Have a great time! We are actually looking to take a weekend trip as well - not to Baltimore though - Looking at Chicago.
