I just got a great opportunity through work to be able to catch a Red Sox game or two when the Sox come to Baltimore to play the Orioles. It will be me, DH, and DS (7YO by then) Was wondering if anyone could point me towards some hotels in the area. I understand that Camden Yards is close to the Inner Harbor area. Is it walkable? Would we need a car? And, I have heard good things about the Aquarium, close enough as well?

Sheesh, could I jam a few more questions in here???

TIA for your help.

Debbie

PS--depending on what Southwest does this summer, we may drive from Mass, or fly, not sure yet.

Camden Yards is walkable from the Harbor, though its a few long blocks. I was there on a day trip this summer, and its a lovely stadium. The Harbor is nice, it has an ESPN Zone and a Hard Rock Cafe, boat rides and the Aquarium- which I did not get to see. The only real "down" side is that it was very crowded because we went on a Saturday afternoon and there were lines for everything- the bathrooms, food, etc.

I know there are several Hiltons and Hyatts at the Inner Harbor. Harbor Place has awesome resteraunts including a Phillips buffet resteraunt. The water taxis are a cool way to tour the Harbor for about $5 (not sure what it is now). The nephews used to love the Science Center when they were younger. Fort McHenry is reachable maybe by water taxi. Little Italy have cool shops and good eats. There is usually entertaiment on the plaza area of the harbor. There is Pier 6 which has music entertainment---not sure of the nights (it is close to the Aquarium). The Baltimore Maritime Museum which is by the Aquarium is where you can tour ships and stuff. Babe Ruth Museum is a must do for baseball fans----my fil raves about it having Johnny Unitas things because the estate did not want stuff to go to Indianapolis. Check out www.ci.baltimore.md.us/visitor/ for details. My husband and I dated a lot there when I was a student at UMBC. I love the National Aquariums---been there at least 25 times (I remember when it opened). You might want to add some time and go check DC out. There is the new Space Museum annex that opened at Dulles---you could park for @$12 or take a shuttle from the Space Museum. You could take the train and transfer to D.C., but it is a bit complicated. The new annex has the space shuttle Enterprise amoung other big items so it may be worth the effort. If you go into DC go by train or metro. Baltimore has a decent bus system during the daytime. The light rail is okay, but it goes into rough neighborhoods. A car works well in MD and No. VA for the most part, but parking in some parts can be expensive---ballpark parking is a problem---we usually get the bus from his folks. (Sorry for spellings & grammer-I'm a bit tired and so is my old computer.) I might have to get Boston advice from you later on---need to visit my sis and NC Beast (hubby)'s brother. Your kid's photo by the way is adorable.

NC Belle----originally from MD, lived in No. VA, & various Raleigh locations

P.S. check out for more MD sites/hotels: www.mdisfun.org

Thanks for the info.

NC Belle--anytime. Lots of Boston info floating around in this head of mine. I actually went to college in DC, so that's the easy part. We may wait a couple of years to do the DC thing, since DS, like all 6 and 7 YOs has the attention span of a gnat! (thanks for the kind words on his pic, we think he's pretty cute too)

Anyone else with any suggestions?
