Balloon Boy Busts Parents

The family was on Larry King tonight. The pertinent part was snipped and can be seen on TMZ. You decide what the kid was talking about.

Also, at the end of the Larry King episode, Wolf Blitzer brings up what the boy said again. He asks for clarification. He asks the father "What did he mean by that? Ask him what he meant." The father looks confused and like he didn't understand the question. He asks him to repeat it. Blitzer does and the father pauses for a good while as he's looking at the boy. He doesn't want to ask him. Then he goes into a rant saying stuff like " I know where you are going with this. Look, I didn't want to do this interview. You said if I did you would leave me alone for the week." He goes on & on, and never asks the boy for clarification even though the boy could have cleared things up if things were on the up and up. You can just see the parents' whole body language change after the kid says that. If it's true, what a waste of time and energy for all those emergency workers.

When I heard he had been found at home, part of me figured that would turn out to be a hoax I had hoped the cynical part of me was wrong.

Yep--looks like they want some publicity. Maybe hoping to get funding for their weather experiments??

Ever since I heard they were on Wife Swap, I figured it was a hoax. I'm sure dad figured the country would fall in love with the family and he would get a reality show out of this where he could advertise his wacky experiments.

If they had the little one do this(hide while they had news and police following the balloon), that is a really big deal. Maybe dad is trying to get a show that chronicles their storm chasing and wanted publicity first. All the 6 year olds I know would be a lot more vocal about an adventure like he had. I think a social worker should have a talk with the child and see what he says.

The Early Show is saying they are going to have the family on this morning. We'll see what they say there. They have had more time to coach him now. They also showed a clip where the parents were there when the balloon took off and were yelling for him to get out. Funny thing is, in this clip when it took off there was no basket. I thought the story was that there was basket that fell off.

Okay, now they say that after he got home, one of the reporters asked him to show them where he went to hide, and that it was for a tv show. Dad says that is what he was talking. He is crying, so who knows? I still don't understand how dad is saying the brother saw the balloon take off, but then in the video, it shows mom and dad there when it takes off?

They are on Good Morning America right now. The kid conveniently got sick just as Diane asked him what he meant last nite on Larry King. I wonder if the parents drugged the kid.

They are on GMA right now. The little boy had to go to the bathroom during the interview because he felt queasy. You could hear him throwing up in the background. Poor kid.

From the beginning, I told DH that there was something off with the whole story. The parents are flakes.

The dad was just crying on the Today show (NBC.) I don't think he's very believable.

I guess I'm another cynical one but I just wasn't convinced by their interview on the Early show just now...the father was sniffling at times through the interview but it didn't seem for real, same with the wife, and even his mannerisms seemed odd to me.

And regarding the video clip, they just happened to be taping when this happened? And the father is kicking a chair around when it happens, and the kid said he was in the balloon but climbed out...well I didn't see any basket in the video either when it took off. It just all seemed so staged, including the interview just now. And if it is all a hoax, shame on them for dragging their children into their lies.

Holy smokes! My favorite lie detector blog doesn't have anything up yet, but I'm sure she will be inundated with requests. I'll be keeping a look out to see if she posts anything.

I haven't seen the interviews.

But the family can only hide for so long. If the police suspet a problem, they have the resources to involve proper authorities to ge the truth.

The boy got sick during the interview on GMA this morning too. As soon as he was asked about his comment on the Larry King show, he suddenly got sick. He got up from the interview to go to the bathroom.
