Ballet classes for adults

nice or naff?

I really need more excercise, but the gym and I don't always agree So was thinking ballet (that's the little girl in me), but am wondering if it's a bit naff for a 31 year old to start learning ballet.

I take my DDs dancing and the school where they go has lots of adults tap dancing and they all seem to love it. They don't have an adult ballet class but if they did I'm sure they would be plenty signing up.

I've seen adult ballet classes advertised in our local evening classes brochure in the past. I remember because it stated "all ages, all abilities, all sizes". It really appealed but was at a time that I couldn't attend.

I've seen adverts like that in our local paper too. I know the academy that my friends girls go to do adult classes so you may get lucky.....

Good luck I think it's great you've recognised you want to take more exercise, thats often half the battle.

I've been to a couple of adult ballet classes - in London they're quite a common sight. They've had a mixture of ages - i'd say about 30% were 18ish, a few aged 20-30 and a couple of people in their 40s. To be honest the mixture of ages didn't really matter as everyone talked to each other!

If you find a class go for it, it's v tiring at the beginning but once your body gets used to the positions its really good and there's lots you can practice at home
