Bald spot after BBB?

It hasn't happened to my DD but I have read of it happening. My understanding is it develops from the hair being pulled too tight and left that way for too long. That stresses the hair follicles which causes the hair to fall out, but it will regrow.

This didn't happen to my daughter when she got the pop star princess pkg, but I was really concerned. I asked her a few times if it felt okay because I could see how tightly they had pulled her hair. She insisted it felt fine, but it didn't look comfortable to me. My daughter wore her hair for 2 or 3 days if I remember correctly. Then it just needed to be washed. We didn't notice any hair loss which really surprised me. How long did she wear it and when did you notice the hair loss?

We did BBB twice, once with the princess bun and crown style and another with the style that has the multicolored mickey clips and the multicolored ratted hair and did not have a problem either time, however I always took it out before bed that night and did not leave it in.

We've gotten the princess bun twice and never had an issue, but the FGIT we had didn't pull her hair really tight. She wore it 2 days each time.

We've done BBB twice and I've never noticed anything like that. She always wanted to leave them in, so we left it for like a day or two.

Sounds like it's not uncommon though.

Just got back from the dermatologist who diagnosed her with Alopecia Areata. The doc said the hair loss was not related to the tight hairstyle from WDW. Just wanted to update. :)

My daughters desperately want to do BBB. I'll have to watch out for this.

My sister and I have both taken our daughters to BBB and never had trouble.
BUT last year at the beach, my sister got my nieces' hair wrapped. The wrap for the 5 year old fell out at the root the next day leaving a bald spot about the size of a dime. My sister freaked out but her hair has grown back in and she is none the worse for wear.

I've been wearing hair wraps off and on (and doing them on my own head) for the past 20 years, and have never seen this. That's just really strange, considering there aren't even any chemicals that are used, it's just embroidery thread (or something similar) and beads.

Now I want to do a hair wrap again :D

Sorry to hear that. For your daughter's sake I wish it was from the up-do.

Some friends just got back last week and said they felt they had been scalped but I think they were talking more about prices.......
