Balcony at GCH

How likely is it that we'll have a balcony in our room at GCH? Is there a room category that's more or less likely to have a balcony? Do they usually honor requests?

We're travelling with a toddler, and would like to have somewhere to sit and chat while he's napping or sleeping in the room.

Thanks!

We have stayed at the GCH 3 times and have always had a balcony. Do any of the rooms NOT have a balcony? I agree it is a good spot to go while others are sleeping. DH would sometimes wake up before me and would sit on the balcony and read.

I could be wrong, but I think all of the GCH hotel rooms have balconies. I've stayed there 4 times and always had a balcony.

For the Disney Vacation Club wing at the GCH, the first floor rooms have porches and the rest of the rooms have balconies.

Unless you're planning on using/renting DVC points, I think your chances are very good of getting a balcony. But I'd still recommend calling the hotel directly to ask them. The reservation number is (714) 956-6425.

Has anyone stayed at s non-DVC room at GCH and not had a balcony? I'd read that *most* rooms have balconies, but not all.

Since the balcony was the deciding factor for us, I want to know we'll have one.

the rooms that have a monorail view (i think they call it courtyard) do not have a balcony. That's actually where we are going to try to get a room b/c our 2 year old knows how to flip the lock (there isn't a high double lock) and with the table and chairs out there, it is a bit nerve-wracking since he is a climber. But most of the rooms do have a balcony so you shouldn't have trouble making that request.

Ah, now you've triggered a memory of something I noticed. Yes, some of the rooms that overlook the courtyard (garden view I believe) do not have balcony's. But most do - even with that view. I had one that did.

I had this scary experience with my 4-year-old twins. I was on the balcony reading the paper, when I looked up to see one of the girls climbing from the chair onto the table and heading for the railing that the table was against. EEEEK!!! We were on the 5th floor overlooking the courtyard/monorail.

They're now almost 7 so we don't have that worry any longer, thank goodness.
