Bait and Switch Half Marathon

That's what they should've named the Princess Half. First, we had a course through three parks, with less than 5 miles of road running, followed by a Pirate and Princess Party. Now we have a whopping (drum roll, please) TWO miles in the parks!! And a party at HS. How many princesses do you think will be THERE? Anybody else questioning if this was worth $120+the $42 ticket?? I have already filled out a comment form; I suggest others do the same if they fell they have been "had" on this one, as I do.

And a big CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who finished the Half, the Marathon, and certainly the Goofy! Great job!!!

I was just sorry to see the Minnie Marathon in May go. It is a great time of year and just a good length run.

Which course map is correct? The one on Disneyrunning is different than the one on the official Disney Endurance Series site. You would really think the "Princess" race should run through the castle....

Me too. Ms. Mightyduck and did the Minnie last May. They should reinstate it since the Princess is reportedly not doing that well.

They could still have it the Princess half marathon but I think its too close to the big marathon weekend in January. March is also the most expensive time to get a room at Disney. If they move it back to May it would most likely do alot better filling up and getting people excited about it. The best thing (for me) about the Minnie was being able to go to the Flower and Garden festival. I can understand people's dissapointment with the change of race course since alot may have also been signed up for the half this past weekend. I am one who didn't really care for the first course map since it seemed to be the same course as the last half of the marathon and the course of the Minnie 15K and I wanted to see something different. It did not make any sense to run a Princess race and not run it through the one park that is "home" to so many princesses and has my favorite pricesses castle as the centerpiece.

Of course you can't please everyone but hopefully next year Disney will listen to the complaints and do what they can to not let it happen again. There is always going to be something that doesn't go right expecially with an inagural event. Disney is good about not letting their mistakes happen again the next year (look at the TOT race - even though I didnt do it this past year I did the inaguaral one and people had all kinds of complaints and this past year I didn't seem to hear the complaints like I did before. It may have been I didn't hear anything because I didn't do the race but I am sure I would have heard something on here if there was major issues)

So I can understand your frustrations - especially about the party since they did do a bait and switch with that one.

The whole trip is a bit expensive, but my hubby knows how excited I was and really wants me to go through with it. That said, I'm dissappointed that there will be only around 2 miles of running through the parks - what a crock! Instead, we get to tie up the roads around Disney and create traffic snarls...who's bright idea was THAT?? Besides that, running on the roads means more of those *&$^# one and off ramps!!

And, like others, I've always thought that in a 'Princess' race, we should AT LEAST run by the castle if not through it!

*sigh* Aside from the 4/3 deal, this trip is turning out to be a huge dissappointment all around.

I have a "rule" about Disney races. After the TOT mess the first year I am NOT ever doing another new race with them. Second year "maybe" First year NO! Seriously it was like they had never had a race at Disney with that mess LOL!

I was to see Minnie go. This one just was a bad time (too close to the Half) and seems to have a "limited" theme! (I am not a "Princess person" LOL!)

From what I can tell this is the exact same Half we just did last weekend. You will get to run through the castle, but that's really the only exciting part. So...I will be doing the same course twice within about a 2 month time frame. I really enjoyed the Minnie 15k and though some didn't like it, as iit s the back end of the marathon course, this is the first part of the marathon course, but with less to look at it. I really think with all the imgagineering that goes on they could figure out how to use HS, Epcot AND the MK for the castle effect. Come on...it's Disney!

I'm guessing this is the official course since it's now on the official disney princess site.

Regardless... you get a Tiara medal so that will be cool!

I had been planning on registering for this, but I am not so sure now. I think they could have made a different course that included the castle, but is different from the january race...It is a tiara medal though.
