For those of you that have stayed in the bahamas nassau/ paradise island can you give me some info? Looking for a 4 night get away pref all inclusive (doesnt have to be) pref near atlantis (dosent have to be) but has to be clean and safe. PLEASE help. TIA!!!!!:goodvibes

Not an all inclusive resort and not fancy but the Comfort Suites is across the street from Atlantis. You will also get access to Atlantis pools etc when you stay there. I recommend tripadvisor.com for reviews on hotels.

My DH and I stayed there for 3 nights for our anniversary this past summer. The comfort suites was clean and quiet and it literally right next door to the Atlantis. As a aguest at Comfort, you get full access and rights as though you are an Atlantis guest. It's great. You get a pink card you use to get your daily wristband and towels. You use the Atlantis in house phones to make dinner eservations (highly recommend this as soo as you arrive, it's like getting ADR's in davnce). You are basically treated as an Atlantis guest.
You also get free continental breakfast, but it is mainly eggo waffles, bagels, and muffins and fruit and cereal. It's fine but we walked to Starbucks a few mornings for better coffee and so my DH could get a breakfast sandwich.

The Atlantis is an amazing hotel. Waterslides were great, aquarium beautiful, food fabulous (although pricey). You can take cabs and local buses around but we didn't b/c we were there for a short time. There are cheaper restaurants in the area, but it is the Bahamas so it will be pricier.

Cruise ships do roll in everyday but if you get to the pool by 9:00 (we were there in August) you should have no trouble getting a chair. Many chairs have fabulous awnings attached to them that you can lower/raise to deal with the sun. Lunches are surprisingly affordable. They have sandwich combos with chips, drink and sandwich for $7-8. My DH and I split a sandwich most days b/c they were huge. Fruit is crazy expensive though. We packed some snacks from home so we didn't buy any. We splurged on dinner.

I LOVED it there and we are saving to bring our boys back in 2011. 2010 is a Disney year.

I have been there twice, I would totally recommend a cruise instead. You'll see nicer places than Nassau and your accommodations will be clean and safe.

We stayed at the Atlantis years ago before they did the expansion. For the cost, I'd stay at the Comfort Suites. It was amazing and we only stayed 2 nights, then moved to a hotel accross the island to explore a few more nights.
We went back during a one day stop on a cruise two years ago, and the Atlantis hotel is now SO BIG, I could barely find my way around!! TOO BIG if you ask me, but it's great to explore the grounds for a day.
One of the greatest experiences for me was doing the swim with dolphins!! When we went back on the cruise, we brought our daughter to do the swim with the dolphins and because she was only 10 I HAD to go in the water with her (I didn't put up much of a fight!).

Not sure when you are heading down, but check out the Atlantis website, as they have a special B3G1 and free companion airfare, (need to book through there site). They even offered our n/s JB flights out of Logan, deducted one flight from the total.:thumbsup2
We are going the end of Feb./Mar. here's hoping temps warm up by then.;)

I went a few years ago and stayed at Breezes. It was all inclusive and I really enjoyed it. Though I don't know if you have kids, and I am pretty sure it's a kids free resort. I honestly don't remember the distance to Atlantis but I know that you are able to visit the hotel from breezes, by boat or something, bc my ex did it the year before we went. I never felt unsafe at all, and I am a chicken. We walked down the street to a casino, went into town to go to the markets, and took a boat so that I could swim with the dolphins (we passed atlantis on the way). It was a good time.

Ditto, either a cruise or consider an all inclusive on another island.
I'm not really fond of Nassau. I'd take Jamaica, Dominican Republic or Mexico over Bahamas any day of the week.

I was looking at Atlantis so expensive for me & 2 maybe 3 of my kids not sure my third my be in Florida spring break school trip .Would Comfort suites be safe for me with children by myself not sure where to go any ideas thanks.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

You step off comfort suites property and are literally on Atlantis property. you're not walking down streets etc to get there. The hotel never made me nervous either.

Ditto on the Comfort Suites idea. I have not stayed there, but went on a cruise last spring, just me and 3 kids. We did the dolphin swim & waterpark at the Atlantis. On the way to the Atlantis we passed the Comfort Suites. Literally it is right next to the Atlantis....probably even closer to some of the attractions at the Atlantis then some of the actual rooms at the Atlantis! My understanding is it is owned by the same company that owns the Atlantis.

I would not hesitate to have stayed there with just my kids and myself. As a matter of fact, we have been contemplating where to go for Spring Break this year and are considering staying at the Comfort Suites so the kids can enjoy the Atlantis and it's amenities and we can enjoy the cheaper price.:thumbsup2

Asolutely love Atlantis, but it is very expensive. Last year we stayed in Coral Towers king suite and it was awesome. Atlantis has a few different resorts, which you can check out on the website. Basicly the Royal tower,Coral tower and Beach tower are all connected and you can walk through the whole resort. The Beach tower is the cheapest, but there is a lot of walking as this is the furthest away for most of the attractions. I haven't stayed at the Comfort suites, but it looked nice and was actually closer to the attractions than the Beach tower. You could also look into renting points and stay at the Harborside Resort. Just be aware food is very expensive, but they do have some wonderful dinning options. Love, love, love Nubo, Mesa grill. Any way we been twice and it is not a budget vacation destination, but we still plan to go in 2011.

I 100% recommend the Comfort Suites as well. Although I have not stayed there, we planned to, until we got a timeshare at the Harborside Atlantis which was amazing. Just a note....they will not allow 5 to a room and if there are plans to sneak someone in....forget it. Every person must wear a wristband to get access to the pools/slides at Atlantis. So who ever is registered to the room will get a band. No exceptions. We traveled with another family who had 5 so we had to forgo the Comfort Suites. I think having the free breakfast is a huge bonus as you will see how expensive the food is there. Atlantis is AMAZING and i cannot imagine going to Nassau and not staying there. The beach and ocean there is soooooooo amazing and clean. I cannot say enough about the place. I'm jealous I want to go back! My kids actually prefer Atlantis over Disney anyday!
