We have a 4 night bahama cruise on the end of our 14 night Florida holiday, sailing with Royal Caribbean sailing from Miami to coco cay, nassau & Florida keys.

Anyone been and got any good tips?

14 weeks to go.. EEEEKKKKK!!

From personal experience sailing with DCL, Nassau is a dump.

I usually use it as a day to enjoy the ship while most of the other passengers get off.

Although Nassau is not the best place in the world we like to get off have a look around, do a bit of Geocaching, a few drinks at Senor Frogs etc.
Key West we love, been twice on cruises & stayed there a few nights last year. We want to go back again soon. Look at doing the train tour maybe to get a look around.
Coco Key is a lovely island similar to Castaway Cay with Disney, various activities, nature walks, watersports etc or just chill on the beach.
Don't know what ship you are on but we found the windjammers buffet fantastic on both our RCCL cruises, so good we didn't get to try the table service meals on either cruise, the curry they served was probably the best I have ever eaten and we live near the curry capital, Bradford.

Agree with Wayneg. Love Key West, we don't get off at Nassau. As we have been doing the shorter cruises, we tend to enjoy the ship on the Nassau days.

we've visited nassau several times, both with disney and with royal.

the last several times with disney, we stayed on the ship.

However, on our most recent cruise this past august, on royal's allure of the seas, we decided to do the excursion to blue lagoon island - for the dolphin swim.

we really enjoyed it and will do it again if we ever find ourselves in nassau again.

If you've never been to Nassau before, I would definitely get off - a lot of people knock the port and no, it's not the best, but it's not as bad as some people make out either so I say you should give it a chance and make up your own mind.

We do stay on at Nassau ourselves normally but we've been a couple of times before so it's less of a biggy.

Coco Cay is really nice, if I have one bug bear it's that it's a tender port - I just hate tendering in general though, it always seems to take too long for my tastes. Barefoot Beach is on the far end of the island but is well worth the 10 minute walk. Long sandy beach, beautiful clear, calm and shallow (honestly, you wouldn't believe how far you can walk out and still only have water up to your waist) water, not as busy as other areas (because a lot of people don't bother walking up that far).

I also agree with Wayne about Windjammers. We went to the main dining room once on our 7 night cruise - while it may be a buffet the food is interesting and varied with lots of curried and asian stir fry items along with all the standard fair; we often saw Officers in there eating. We also always sat at the same table meaning we had the same servers and they really looked after and chatted with us every night.

You will have a fab time, relax and enjoy your cruise :)

Thanks so much everyone.

We are going to do the excursion to blue lagoon private island on the day of nassau.

I'm literally so excited now.

What sort if dress code are you looking at on RCCL?

I used to be a travel agent and sold cruises 5 days a week but when it's yourself going you just go in panic mode and feel you don't know anything!

Thanks again

Beth :-)

you're on the 4 day, so i don't think there are any formal nights.
but even if there are, you don't have to dress up.
We were on a 7 day cruise, when there is definitely a formal night, but you didn't have to dress up.
Basically it just provides an excuse for you to pose for expensive pictures in your fancy duds...

royal is very much cruise casual.
no one is going to look at you cross-eyed no matter what you wear.
certainly not on a 4 night cruise.

which ship are you on? are you on majesty of the seas?
