We are spending a few days in mid June at Universal then going to Freeport, Bahamas for a few days for a graduation trip for our kids. (One graduating from college, the other from HS.) I was planning on driving from Orlando to FLL (probably with a rental) and flying Bahamas Air. They have the best price and times and they do not charge for your 1st checked bag. I was all set to purchase the tickets until I read quite a few negative reviews on Trip Advisor about Bahamas Air's reputation for losing luggage. We aren't going to have a car in Freeport and I don't like the thought of having to worry about recovering lost luggage. I realize that is something that could happen on any flight, but just seeing a lot of negative reviews has me really concerned.
Does anyone have any experience, good or bad (there were quite a few good reviews as well) with Bahamas Air? I looked into the ferry from FL to Freeport, but their reviews were really bad, the schedule isn't very good and there isn't enough difference in the cost to consider it, I think. I could just have to break down and fly United and pay just a bit more in airfare and pay for bags, which I don't really want to do.
Any thoughts?
