I have not stayed at that resort but I did stay at Caribe Cove which is a "sister resort" this past April for 6 nights and was very pleased with the resort. It was a little further from WDW than I usually stay, but that was in time only not really in distance, it depended on the time of day and traffic as to how long it took to get from point A to point B, never more than 20 minutes to our furthest park trip and that was SeaWorld. I am interested to see what type of responses you receive since I may want to book Bahama Bay on another trip.

We stayed there last year. It is a little out of the way, but its not bad. My biggest complaint was the beds are uncomfortable! I had read reviews before we left and many had complained about the beds, but I figured how bad could they be, they were pretty bad. We have a pillow top at home and this was a cheap regular bed. Not much padding! It had a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a washer and dryer. We didn't use the pools so I can't comment on those.

Caribe Cove must get their beds from the same place! I read review after review and the only real complaint was the beds. And although they were noisy, like squeaky and crinkly I slept like a log, and that is unusual for me because I don't sleep well at home at all, and I never sleep well at a hotel.

I can't say what Bahama bay is like but we had a 3 bedroom condo with a king in the master bedroom, a queen in one of the other bedrooms and 2 twins in the 3rd bedroom. 2 full baths and each had a large shower plus a tub, the master bath had a garden tub. I have to say that I have never seen a master bath in a resort as large as the one at Caribe Cove.

We have stayed at Bahama Bay many times. Yes, it's a few miles west of WDW, but not a bad drive at all. It has nice grounds and pools. The condos are huge, and generally nice. Our last visit was 2 years ago, and the furniture and carpet was getting a little worn. Each unit is individually owned, so may vary. Now that they changed to Wyndham management this may have been fixed... call and ask!

They can be a good value, if you need or like a lot of space or want to eat meals in the condo. Note that there is a "resort fee" and "cleaning fee" at the end of your stay.

If cost is a factor, and you don't need the space or kitchen, then consider:

  • Bahama Bay: rental, tax, cleaning fee, resort fee, rental car, parking at Disney
  • On-site stay at a moderate: WDW's off-season rates, plus free dining, and Magical Express bus service

The cost may be about equal.

We didn't have a resort fee or a cleaning fee, but we booked through book-it and that may have been the difference.

We had a wonderful rate, it was something like $70 a night for a 2 bedroom with a free upgrade to a 3 bedroom. We also had the 1 king, 1 queen and 2 twin set-up, be we just had 2 normal bathrooms with no garden tub. For the price I could live without the fancy bathtub!

When I went back and read my first review it didn't sound very encouraging, but it was a great place and we had a wonderful time!
