Bahama Bay Experience?

We have always stayed on property so that we can take advantage of the transportation, and not have to rent a car.

However I was looking through an email from travelocity, and it listed Bahama Bay for $89/night.

Anyone ever stayed there? How far is it from WDW?
The pictures look nice, but is it as nice in reality?

Hey there this is my very first DIS post!!!!

I have never stayed on Disney property but in March 2008 we stayed at Bahama Bay. We liked it, very spacious (2 bedroom villa) and clean, nice grounds. Undoubtedly, it does lack the Disney atmosphere but this is the case with all off-property places. There seemed to be things like Karaoke in the evenings and other activities but we never went to any of those as we didn't stay in much. We will probably spend the first two nights of our next vacation there in June as we feel that it is great for the price and we have no problems staying there again. The pool we used was lovely, clean and quiet, the bar staff courteous and the whole place was relaxing, though I think it could get noisy at peak times. One thing I would say is, if you choose to stay there, some of the buildings don't have elevators so if you have lots of luggage or mobility problems make sure you either request a ground floor building or a room in a building with an elevator. I should also say that we were a party of 3 adults and that this time we didn't have children with us although I would still stay there with my children in the future. Have a wonderful trip.
