I don't think that all of the security procedures have been released - for obvious reasons. However, the one you most frequently see is the hand checking, where they unpack your bag, examine everything in it, and then repack it.
You can use luggage locks, and they will ask you to unlock it. However, once it has been searched, you will not be able to touch the luggage again until you pick it up at baggae claim - so they would have to relock it for you (which they would do).
We "lock" our luggage with the plastic cable ties-but you have to cut them off when you get to your destination-which now that I'm thinking about it brings up a new problem. I used to carry a little scissors in our carry on to cut them open guess I won't be doing that. But I guess from what I'm reading I should wait to "lock" them up until after I check in at the counter? Thanks.
One thing I read last night - cameras and film should be packed in your carry-on. The x-rays they use for checked luggage are stronger and can damage film.
Don't do the final sealing/locking of your baggage until after you get to the airport.
This is the same rule for passengers leaving airports in Hawaii for other states and some foreign countries, the Dept. of Agriculture does checks to be sure certain plants and animals are not transported.
