After sending a rather irrate email to virgin i have just received this email back:

Thank you for your email, I apologise for the delay in our response.

Please note that you will receive the 32kg baggage allowance, the new allowance will only affect new bookings.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Therefore it is only people who book after April 1st that will be affected...hopefully! :thumbsup2

i wonder if i will still get the 32kg baggage :confused3 i booked a month ago and there was no mention of a reduction then maybe i will contact virgin and see what they say

When did you e mail them please??? I have e mailed Wed and Fri and STILL no reply????? Thanks

Huh................. do I e mail them again???? Will give them till tomorrow. Thanks glad its worked out for you.

I have got a name of someone who seems to deal with all my queries...i will PM it to you.

I e-mailed them yesterday to ask about the baggage allowance. We go next month (20th) and received our tickets last weekend, so hopefully we will get the 32kg allowance. I received an acknowledgement to my e-mail but no answer as yet. Will let you know what they say, and if it is that we get the 32kg then I am printing it off and taking it to the airport with me, just in case. ;)

Why do people not read the replies on these threads rather than launch in a silly little tantrum.

The e-mail said ''only applies to new bookings after April 1''. In plain English that means anyone who books flight/holiday etc after April 1 will get a luggage allowance of 23kg

SIMPLE REALLY ISNT IT!!

Even 23kg is more than you get with First Choice and Mytravel economy until you want to pay extra.

What Virgin told me is that if your flight was TICKETED before the 1st april then the old rules apply, Some holiday companys do not send your details to virgin for ticketing untill a few weeks before you travel, so if you have not booked directly through Virgin I would check with the company to see how it affects you!

Got my email reply from Virgin today. Here's how it reads;

Dear Mr McBride,

Thank you for your recent e-mail, I would like to apologise at this time for the delay in our response.

In relation to the decrease in Virgin Atlantic's baggage allowance, the details that have been supplied to you are correct. In your case any booking that has been made before 1st April, Virgin Atlantic will be honouring the baggage allowance at 2 pieces at 32kg so the reduction in the baggage allowance will not affect you.

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this has cause, if you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards

Hope this helps clear up some confusion for some folks out there.
