bad storms

Yesterday we had a microburst go through our yard. lost my gazebo 2 canopies a picnic table and some light fixtures . argh. this is the second time i lost an outdoor canopy. oh and our power is still out 24 hrs later. im posting on my cell.argh.vent over.

Oh my, that came from you to us,we're in the Lehigh Valley! I feel bad you had so much damage & hope your power is restored soon. Around 6:00 while I was cleaning up after dinner the sky suddenly got dark purple and then went black, like midnight black, I've never seen anything like it. I went around and unplugged expensive electronics, pulled the kids off of their video games and made them sit with us in the downstairs TV room. My family thought I was over-reacting but considering the tornado that hit in NYC last week I'm on the skittish side. By the time it got to us the storm winds seemed to be higher up and the lightening seemed to be coming from outer space because we could see the light show but didn't hear any lightening, but we had horrible rain and hail. It also lasted much longer than a normal storm, about 20 -30 min of straight lightening, weird.

There is major flooding going on right now in Southern Minnesota. This weather pattern is NOT good.

well the power is back on and yes we are all safe. thanks. yes we lost a few things and it hurts, they were all new and hubby says he cant justify an insurance claim for it,500 deductibal and then higher fees for 5 years. so chalk it up to about a 800 dollar loss. that hurts,but we are all ok thats all that matters.

Comprehensive claims (which weather like this is one) do not raise your rates but if it is only $300 above your deductible, he is right, probably not worth filing a claim.

We had a huge tornado rip through our town last week. It destroyed an Ohio State campus, turned up many trees in the local arboretum, took the roofs off of many houses/businesses, crushed several huge greenhouses full of 60 years worth of academic agricultural research---it was truly horrible!

But....not one person was injured!


P.S. It's never good when the evening news posts pictures of your hometown with the introduction "Let's just let the devastating pictures tell the story!"
