Have been to the CR one time prior a couple years ago right before the refurbished which was pretty good but just had a one night Garden View stay to hit up the Tron preview and it was bad. Some highlights:

-Unable to get in the room with App/Magic Bands thankfully a cast member was walking by and saw our struggle. Called down to lobby where they said they'd reset it but it never worked so had to walk back to the lobby and get a room key.
-Had stored luggage with bell services so could spend day at MK until room was ready. Apparently the guy who checked it in forgot to put tags on the bags so it took them a long time to find.
-There was apparently a work order on the shower in our room and maintenance came by to fix it around 5 pm. Told us we wouldn't be able to use shower for a few hours while the glue set. All DM wanted to do was shower that evening and she couldn't.
-The last fun bit was DM waking up around 3 to some rustling in the room. I sleep with headphones and white noise when I'm in hotel rooms so I didn't hear anything. We had stayed at the GF earlier in the week for 3 nights and I had so much trouble sleeping then she didn't want to turn on the lights or wake me. Eventually rustling stopped and she feel asleep for a little bit longer. When I woke up to get ready so we can hit up HS early she told me she was pretty sure there was a mouse in the room. Turns out she was right. A hole was chewed through the cinch bag I take to the parks that I had lying on the couch. I had an unopened cliff bar in it and the mouse chewed through that and proceeded to leave crumbs/wrapper bits/and turds on the clothes I laid out for the morning that were next to the bag. I like Mickey but don't like him leaving "presents" on my clothing. We ended up checking out a lot sooner than expected and swung by the front desk where the cast member just stared in disgust.

While I like the location of the resort and design of the rooms since the refurbishment definitely can't see myself staying there again.

The MB not being able to open the door happens at almost every WDW resort to some, it's not great but it happens. As far as the rest, I'm the guessing the mouse would be the one that sent me over the top. Again, it can happen anywhere, and since WDW is built on a swamp there are always critters getting in rooms. But a mouse, nope, I would be on top of the bed screaming so loud they would have to evacuate the entire floor.

It was more them all happening at once. The MB thing honestly wasn't bad but it was just the beginning that sort of crescendo into the mouse thing. If I would have saw the mouse I probably would have screamed. Myself and DM were more grossed out so that's why we left extra early to wait for the bus to HS. Plus side is we got to the HS so earIy was 2nd in line at rope drop to Slinky Dog.

Oh my goodness! Did you ask at the desk to speak to a manager? I would absolutely freak out with a mouse in the room.

We talked to a cast member at the front desk. They just looked really grossed out and didn't offer any solutions. They had sent a welcome email that included a feedback link so I wrote about may experience in there. Don't really expect anything maybe a standard "We're sorry you had a bad experience" email. I was going to leave a note for mousekeeping because I didn't want them to have any surprises but didn't have a pen.

I'm sorry but if I found proof that there was a mouse in my room, the only thing I would say to the desk CM is that I need to speak with a manage ASAP. I have been told years ago by a resort manager that if there is ever any issues with our room to always ask to speak with a manager.

Nope, I would expect much more. A mouse in the room, let alone getting into your stuff needs much more than a standard email. That needs a refund.

A few years ago we were staying in a CL room at YC. Just before 11 pm we noticed a steady stream of hundreds of little ants (found out the were Argentinian ants) crawling along the wall from the balcony up the bedside stand. I went down to the front desk, they had the exterminator come to determine what the bugs were. They couldn’t move us til they made sure they weren’t bed bugs, if they were all our stuff would have needed special handling. We were then moved to another room & the housekeeping manager authorized a refund for that night’s stay.

IMO a mouse getting into your stuff is way worse than some ants. Good luck, hope you hear from someone soon.

I would be afraid of catching hantavirus or leptospirosis make sure you monitor yourself. Shocking experience!

Holy dung. A mouse?! Their crap is toxic (had mice in my old apartment. Id be demanding money back. That resort is showing its age.

Not being able to use the shower would have been enough for me to ask to be moved. The mouse is just the kicker. You couldn't shower, you couldn't sleep and then a mouse destroyed some of your belongings? I would have asked for a full refund. I would encourage you to write to guest services regarding your experience.

This is terrible. You definitely deserve some sort of compensation for the night. A mouse in the room, eating your stuff, I’d freak out

I sent a lengthy feedback so I'm going to give see how they respond.

The shower thing was annoying and we were like why wouldn't they have just fixed this earlier in the day before any guest were in the room or just waited til tomorrow after we were out.

We were out of there before 6 AM so the lobby was a ghost town. Had to ring the cast member to come to the front desk and she was disgusted when we told her what happened/showed a few photos but no solutions were offered. At that point it was like I'm just going send some feedback later and see what they say because we just want to leave this hotel and try to have a decent few hours at HS before heading home.

I would absolutely have spoken to someone about this. Even the mouse aside (which, OMG. I mean, I know it can happen anywhere, but YUCK!), the shower thing is also an issue for me. You're paying lots of money for your room and the amenities within it. I don't think it's too much to expect that and the shower be usable for the duration of your stay. If there was a KNOWN maintenance issue with your shower, I feel like you should have been put in another room, or even given the option to switch to a different resort if the original resort happened to be fully booked. I get that things come up on a stay while you are already IN the room, and unexpected things happen and need to be dealt with. That would not bother me. But if there was a work order for that specific room, and an issue that was previously known and identified, then that room should have been taken out of commission until it was resolved.

I very rarely complain to CMs about issues at Disney, I think I have asked to change rooms once (maaaybe twice?) and ever, never asked for any refunds/monetary compensation, and I have easily visited 50 times in my adult life and experienced an array of issues of varying severity. I don’t say the below lightly.

You deserve a refund. The magic band thing, I mean, that happens to me every visit, so we’ll not go there. However, there is no way they should have placed you in a room that was undergoing prescheduled maintenance 2 hrs after official checkin - they should have assigned you elsewhere, even if it meant upgrading you. But the mouse? No. They can carry some very dangerous zoonotic diseases. That is not acceptable anywhere. Furthermore, it is imperative that management become aware of this from a potential infestation standpoint. If they do not respond, I’d keep reaching out.

Ideally, you’d have gone to the front desk after the maintenance thing, but I can understand not wanting to haul my stuff back down and wait in line again (or change out of my PJs).

I truly hope you get some satisfaction here.

Whole lot of irony there, since there used to be a pen and notepad in every room, until Disney decided that would no longer be a standard amenity.

I absolutely hate they no longer have the pen & pad in the room. My DS was at DL hotel last fall, they had a note pad & a pen in the room. Not just the cheap stick pen either, a very nice retractable pen with a soft stylus end.

WOW, there are no words...all the issues I could look past but the mouse, yeah, I'm 100% with you, bye bye. The MB issue happens all the time and is totally not a big deal. The other issues are definitely inconvenient but not deal breakers, just bad luck. While that can happen anywhere and at any resort it's not ok, you should definitely be getting some concession, not sure what's the appropriate amount for a mouse in your room but they should have definitely shown you some love. We've had bugs at a number of disney resorts and we almost expect them. Same with lizards but a mouse, hasn't happened yet.

The phone/MB unlocking the happens. I could look past maintenance having to come repair a shower--but to have to wait several hours before I could use it?? Nope! That right there would've prompted me to ask to be moved. That's ridiculous. If there was a known maintenance issue where part of the room was unusable, as the pp mentioned, they should never have used/checked you into that room.

As for the mouse! 💯totally unacceptable. That is what pest control is for...to prevent this kind of thing from happening!! And for a disease-carrying thing like this to destroy your property?? Uh-huh, would've demanded to speak to the manager and would've wanted compensation for the bag and a refund for the hotel stay (and probably something else for the trauma of having mouse in my room). We've stayed at all kinds of resorts/hotels all over the world and have had maintenance issues, geckos in Hawaii, but never true pests.

I hope someone rectifies this for you but sadly, have no faith. Hopefully you'll keep us updated??

While it can happen anywhere, the only place I had a consistent problem was at CR - I don't think I've had an issue in any other resort.. I used to leave the room with 2-3 different MBs when we went to the parks because, guaranteed, only one (not always the same one!) would open the door. DH, of course, had no such problem. Just me.
