I went out and did an easy 11.5 this am (I'm doing the full) and it was not a good run. It wasn't a bad run in terms of pain or anything, I was fine. It just didn't feel good. It was a little slow but not bad. I know I'm not the only one who has had this type of run. How do others deal with this? Thanks y'all!

As hard as it may be..the best thing you can do is just forget about it. We all have bad runs once and awhile. And, this seems to be quite common for those that are tapering for a race. You got the mileage in, and that is what matters most. Don't worry about it, you are ready!!

Don't make it "mean" anything...

Just chalk it up as not your best training day and put it behind you...trust me - when you are waiting in the start corral there is such an air of excitement and you will be completely in the moment...nothing matters except the 26.2 (or 13.1) ahead of you.

It's so close and you are so ready...

Ed...bad days happen. What you can take from it is that it wasn't really your day, but you persevered and got your run done. That does as much for your mental toughness as anything!

I often say that the 'bad' training days are often the BEST ones!

I call that a stonker. I think everyone gets those from time to time. You just chaulk it up on the completed runs. It doesn't mean anything. I had one of those about 3 weeks ago. I was doing a 8 mile walk. Around mile 3 I look down and realize from the Garmi that I am going slower than I realize and then everytime I check it it stills says my pace is slower than I think I am going. Oh Well, I just stopped looking at it before I took it off and chucked it onto Hiatus Road. It was then over. So it's in the past. As Jimmy Buffet says, "Breath In, Beath Out and Move On."
Just keep moving.

I agree that since the bad run was mostly metal and not physical just chalk it up as a hard 11.5 miles. I don’t let a bad run bother me because I look at it as a better run than sitting at home not matter how laborious it felt (a bit of the DLF > DNF > DNS mantra). This happens a lot in the winter up here. I try to hit the road as often as I can and only settle for the treadmill if it is terrible. A lot of runs turn into half running, half avoiding ice patches. When the spring running season starts though you will be happy you struggled through the tough runs.

I drink a glass of wine & forget about it. Bad days happen to all of us. Don't worry about it.

Really. Even on an allegedly bad day, you still accomplished a lot.
