bad points short notice trip

Bad points on booking a trip 2 weeks out. Making reservations for thing with limited space and availability. Going Sept 15 thru sept 21 and I believe I am out of luck on the Illuminations cruise. Had planned on doing this but thought next trip would not be until Oct 07. For the heck of it I called Disney, and was exactly what I expected. All sold out for all dates while I'm there. I did booked a segway tour and going to book some other stuff just have not decided what I want to do. Any suggestions
