Do you allow your children to listen to music others might find inappropriate?

Do you allow your children to watch a movie that others might consider damaging to their psyche?

Does your child have a cell phone - not because they need it, but just because? (be it you embrace new technology, convenience or that every other child has one)

Do you think the idea that just because we got along without something, that our children should not embrace new ideas from this century is strange?

Do you serve up an occasional adult beverage at your child's birthday party (to the adults that is?)

Do you occasionally agree with your child's teacher over your child?

Do you allow your children to listen to music others might hand you the lyric sheet to? Absolutely yeslmao: Right now DS is big on David Guetta, he went through a Lady Gaga and Fergie phase and has all kinds of other random stuff too.:

Do you allow your children to watch a movie that others might consider damaging to their psyche? Sometimes. I have let them watch plenty of R rated movies that I think are fine. The ratings mena nothing to me. One of them also loved Two and a Half Men at age 9 (half the jokes went right over his head).

Do you serve up an occasional adult beverage at your child's birthday party (to the adults that is?) yes, to the adults. Some years we have served vrigin Pina coladas or margaritas to the kids too. DD has an occasional small glass of wine with dinner and both have toasted new years with sips of champagne. I am just evil

Do you occasionally agree with your child's teacher over your child? Hasn't happened yet, but there has been almost no school drama to take sides on at all

I also (gasp) let DD wear bikins, send the kids to summe camp, let the kids read anything they pick up off the shelf, and allow my kids to go all over town on public transportation without me.

Ooh yes, bikinis. I wish I had girls. I have seen the cutest 2 pieces at the beach for the girls. My niece has the most adorable zebra striped one.

I have allowed my son to ride his bike to the store (about 3 miles) with his friends since he was 8 or 9.

Maybe I am a bad parent in the making:
Yes, she listens to different music, do I let her run around the house rapping to Ice T's cop killer? No. but I know how when parents are too restrictive can be.

I don't serve adult drinks, because the adults really don't drink. so that is non applicable for me

Does she have a cellphone-yes, but she also does things around the house to earn it

Do I agree with the teachers? There hasn't been a time yet to have that happen, meaning dd hasn't been in trouble or had problems in school

But at the same token: one time Dd wasn't feeling well-her tummy hurt and an hour later was jumping on the bed laughing. Ok, let's put on some clothes and go to school. Has she done it again,nope.

Even though I embrace new technology: I am not going to run out and get every new little thing because her friend has one and if it breaks or towers are down, I don't hear any whining.

I have also let my Dd walk to her school all by herself. This year the school is middle and she has to take the bus, but she still walks to the bus stop without my assistance.

I have also let her stay home alone in the day time

I let her play outside, I actually tell her to go play. Sometimes, she is gone for hours with the neighborhood kids and she comes home before the street lights come on. and in the summer, or weekends and weather permits, she and her friends play in the dark on our cul de sac.

SHe hasn't had a bed time in a few years, but she knows if she stays up at midnight and has to get up at 6:30, there is no whining or saying she is tired.

OOps forgot about the movies: funny story: she ordered forgeting sarah marshall. it came and we began to wtch it, full male frontal nudity. she was so freaked out, it was hilarious. now she asks me about the ratings before she orders it. she knew I liked russel brant? so he was in the movie, she thought it would be ok.

I'm a bad parent cuz DD is only 8 mos and her favorite things are the Elmo's World theme song and only sleeping in someone's arms.

I'll take a Mud Slide please...but I can't since I'm breastfeeding...oh what the heck, I am a bad parent after all!

(And I answer yes to all the questions. She has a cell phone...it just has Elmo on it!)

I have also put my kids in a Disney kids club to go out w/ DH, taken my kids out of school for family trips and outings.

Another bad parenting choice of mine:

I really don't care about somebody else's etiquette or lack there of.

If somebody doesn't rsvp to my kid's bd party, I will actually pick up the phone to call and ask if they are planning on coming rather than steaming about the lack of rsvps. So what if they were "supposed" to rsvp by a certain date. I guess I am a bad parent in that I am not going to teach little Sally a life's lesson that her mommy is bad because she didn't rsvp on time and is now excluded from the party.

My DS6 had Green Day on his ipod when he was 3. my DS11 watches South Park & Family Guy and plays M rated games on Xbox Live. My kids have cell phones, just because they wanted them. Do I qualify?

He's in college? You mean you can be a bad parent and turn out productive, responsible kids?

I think this weekend alone qualifies me for the club. We just spent the past 2 hours shopping for a new pocket knife for DS because we left our old ones behind in the USA and he had a gift certificate from his birthday oarty to spend. We will review knife safety and then it will go in a kitchen cabinet for him to pull out and use at will
Tmorrow we are going to a family owned vineyard to sample wines and stock up again (we go about every 3 months and buy a couple of cases). The kids will come to and get a tour of the grape fields and where the wine is made. We'll buy them some high quality grape juice from the vineyard while we are at it.
