I called first thing this morning (6 months out) for our May 2008 trip to make all my ADRs and was told as of January 1, 2008 Teppan Edo will no longer be part of the DDP.
It's also true what 'they' say about the popularity of LeCellier. I called right at 7:00am and my 6:00pm ressie turned into 5:40 very quickly.

They aren't Disney owned, and last year some of the non-Disney restaurants jumped in late in the game. So you never know.

That would mean more availability for those of us not on DDP, though. I just wouldn't completely count it out yet. Teppan Edo is wonderful, even paying full price.

If I recall correctly, none of the Japan places were on DDE last time I looked.

Count me in the happy group if it goes non-DDP also. :thumbsup2

Not really, the dining plan is not the only reason for all the ADRs to bee taken.
You would still need ADRs dining plan or no dining plan.

That's why she said possibility. ;)

Sorry, the DDP has made on site dining boom. It is harder for ADR's, and almost impossible for walkups.

Sometimes Disney is funny about ADR times. They may not have very many right AT 6pm. Often I've called for ADR's very early, at places which are less busy than Le Cellier, and they didn't have the EXACT time I wanted. Calli Grill is one place, for example, that only does seatings at certain times (and in the case of Cali Grill, they are rather limited). But it doesn't mean they are all booked up for the night necessarily.

I would be okay if everything was a walk up or same-day reservation. I know when I did the free dining (11 nights), I actually made it to very few of my seatings. I just can't choose 6 months ahead what I'll be doing!

We have an ADR there in May, & excluding it from the DDP wouldn't upset us at all. Actually, it's getting hard to find restaurants that haven't been negatively affected by the DDP, if recent reviews are any indication.

When I made my ADR's on Monday, my CM made no mention of that. Same thing was told to me last year when I made my ADR's for our February trip and the closer we got the restuarants were added back in. I think they hold out for better deals with Disney.

I don't think there is a better deal to be had. The restaurants get a certain amount based on the DDP price. It is possible that they feel they can make more money not being on it. But Teppan Edo may decide to join, we'll see.

When I made my February ADR the CM read me the DDP spiel- said it was on the 2008 list. I'm looking forward to the official Disney site update to confirm it now, though...

I too would be happy if it isn't on the DDP!!! We NEVER do DDP and actually LOOK for places that don't do it!!

My first thought is that this is just one more disappointment of the dining plan. At least I won't be so upset if we decide to give up our "free" dining trip next September. Its just not looking like such a great deal anymore - room only codes may just beat it for those of us who don't mind counter service :confused3 .

I don't know if I'll do free dine again, since appetizer and tips aren't included.

Disney is still in negotiations with non-Disney restaurants regarding the DDP. So as of today non-Disney owned restaurants who have not concluded a DDP deal will be listed as not on the DDP as of January 1, 2008. The same senario took place last year, and sure enough Pepper Market, Teppanyaki, etc were all part of the DDP. A complete listing of DDP locations is expected later this month.

I got the same thing about Tokyo Dining (and Tutto Italia, which is another one that some have been told won't be back on the plan for '08). At this point, I'm thinking that we can't really trust anything we hear from Disney dining CMs, and we're just going to have to wait for a new official list to see.
