Bad Luck Stories

The worst is getting stuck on splash mounatin when you have to tinkle..... all that water :rotfl:

skylarr29 you should have gone tinkle before getting on the ride. any grown adult should know that.

We have gotten stuck on a couple rides but like Litebrite, I have been stuck on the Skyway to Tomorrowland at DL. I was with my Sister and her now ex-DH and my cousin. We got on the Skyway to Tomorrowland and we had just gone thru the Matterhorn and the ride stopped. We sat there for at least 30 to 45 minutes. I got all sorts of pictures of Fantasyland from above. Also we could hear the 7 drawfs walking around, you know hear the taps on their shoes. We heard them before we could see them.

Most recently we got stuck on the monorail. It was kind of neat because we were up front with the driver and could hear what was going on. We had left CR and were heading to TTC when it stopped and when we finally got going again, we had to stop before we actually got completely into the station so that they could check it to see what was wrong. They thought they got it fixed and as we headed out from TTC, it was acting up again. So the driver had to back it up to the station to unload and try and get it to the back to have them check it out. The driver was very pleasant and was explaining what was going on and what the maintenance people were doing. Once we got off, they were telling us more about the problem. So all in all it was very interesting and informative.

While at Disney for our 25th anniversary last year we were at Epcot and my

DH knew I wanted to see the afternoon parade at MK so we got on the monorail we're almost there when we stop!!!

All I kept thinking the parade is going to start!!! we made it though and got to watch it near the train station I love that parade!!

Later in the trip we were at MK (Yet again) and since we had a some time left before Spectro we hopped the TTA and lo and behold we get stopped yet again!!!

Once again---only this time I could see everything going over to get their spots for the parade!!!

We made that one in time too but it sort of gets to ya!! ya know!!!

The absolute worst for us was being stuck in the HM (and for the life of me I can't remember if it was at DL or WDW). All I remember is that we were stuck right next to the heads that pop up and scream. Well, everytime the heads screamed, the group of teenage girls in the doombuggy behind us screamed. And everytime they screamed, all three kids would cry even harder than they already were. For 10 minutes this torture went on until we finally moved, all of 5 feet, so we could no longer see the heads, but we could still hear them and the girls behind us. So after what seemed like an eternity, the ride was back to normal.

I don't know if my kids will ever want to ride on the HM again or if they are scarred for life. The oldest at the time came off a blubbering mess and the younger two closed their eyes and held their hands over their ears on every ride for the next two days we were there.

This happened a long time ago like 35 years when I was very young. WE were at Disneyland and went on the Mine Ride Through the Painted Desert. This ride no longer exists b/c they put in BTM. Anyway, it was an open train and they took you through a Grand Canyon like area, forest area, and an area similar to Yellowstone with "mud" pots that bubbled and a gyeser called Old Unfaithful. The day we rode this attraction there were some young hotties in the front car with the cm. He was trying to impress them but he scrwed up the timing on the ride (no computers then) and so we stalled. Each portion of the ride must have been on a timer so when we got to the painted dessert and went by the gyser the timing was off and the people in the last car got drenched. It was really cold water and we were soaked. They took us to the first aid station gave us robes and brought our clothes to a cleaner to have them dried. IN the mean time they were giving physicals to new cm's. Apparently as we sat there the cms needed to give the nurse a urine sample. It was so funny to watch all these people walk by with their cups of urine to turn into the nurse. Finally my uncle turns to my dad and says," Hey John, feel like a beer?"

Talk about not taking care of the customer!! We spent a good two hours waiting for the clothes and watching the "urine parade". Finally, they bring us our dry clothes and send us on our way. Not even a pass to go to the head of the line on the rides. It was not all that bad for us but others in the "lucky" group had flown down to LA for the day and it seriously cut the time at the Magic Kingdom(tongue in cheek) short.

Whew! Fortunately we will be staying at the WL, so we won´t be stuck in a room. We will be there at the same time as you. I only hope that our plane can land in Orlando, I am not too worried about having to stay a couple of extra days, only of not making it out of Mexico City!

I never considered Buzz Lightyear an "extreme" ride, but we got stuck in the space tunnel for about 5 minutes. The movie is pretty cool when just passing through, but with all those swirling stars, it was worse than the teacups after dinner!

The first time I took dd (she had just turned 1) we got stuck for about 30 min. on Small World. Right after we stepped on the boat she decided she was hungry. She was the type that gave us no notice & followed no schedule. She just screamed & screamed the entire ride  . I will never forget it… the singing, smiling, freaky little dolls & a whaling 1 yo.:scared1: It was the long, slow, boat ride to hell… :headache:

:guilty: I felt terrible for the other people stuck in the boat w/ us :guilty:

We've only had one annoying breakdown and that was on the Carousel of Progress. Someone in another theater must have been trying to leave during the show because a CM kept coming on through the speakers saying the ride will not continue if you don't stay seated. After watching the same scene - the one where it's the 4th of July and the daughter is going to dress up as the Statue of Liberty - four times in a row I think we were all about to go crazy! :rotfl2: I'm not sure I'll ever get my family to go on it again.

We were there June 2 - 9...

Haunted Mansion, Figment, Spaceship Earth (I really think this was to load people in wheelchairs)...I think every ride that is on a track that loads like these broke down. Figment was really really bad. We sat in the same place and heard the same thing about 10 times and then when it started to move, the entire ride was off. The cars did not stop where they were supposed to. It was really awful.

My DB and I got stuck on Splash Mountain for about 20 minutes during MNSSHP on the 29th. That was probably the worst breakdown for me. I remember Splash Mountain was closed one evening a few days later.

Besides that, the only rides that have broken down while I was on them were Buzz and Test Track. The Test Track break down was bad because it stopped on the hill RIGHT after the loading point, at an incline. It was very uncomfortable to be on that incline, especially with the whole queue line staring at you. It also broke down at the point where it looks like you're about to hit the truck. I found that pretty entertaining, proof to all the little kids that really thought it was going to hit them. :rotfl: I do recall going on again immediately after :)

hmm nothing THAT bad really happened. i had a few upsetting experiences. everytime i've gone on the Haunted Mansion ride it stops in the exact same spot right in Madame Leoda's room. everytime, it's strange. once it broke down in the cemetary. luckily everytime they got it up and running.

while waiting to go on Snow White's ride, there was a family that was obviously from another country and they didn't understand much english. so anyway, the father has this huge suitcase it looked like it was full of luggage or something, i have no idea what was really in there. so, the parents barely paid attention to the kids and the father would somehow zone out and not pay attention to the line and he would stand there for 5 minutes until he saw it moved and then he'd forget the luggage and have to come back for it. this happened everytime!! so we get up finally to the front and the CM told us all to get in the car and i pulled her aside and i said "hey, can we catch the next one please??" and she was very polite and said sure and let us on.

the most aggrivating one was when the last Lord of the Rings movie came out. we had bought tickets months before to go to the PI theater to see it. we planned on going to dinner at Planet Hollywood and made reservations and we were going to go to the movie afterwards. so we waited for a bus at our hotel to DTD......and waited.........and waited........we waited for about an hour. when we got there our reservations were already gone but thanks to Disney magic they let us eat as if we had "Reservations" anyway and they hurried our food out for us so we ate a full 3 course meal in 20 minutes and we made the movie just on time thankfully. i was so aggrivated with the buses. i saw like 4 buses to MK and 2 to MGM and one for every other park or waterpark.......but it took the DTD one an hour to get there. princess:
