THE ANTS COME MARCHING ONE BY ONE! OH MY! OH MY!
It's hard to sleep in when back home you have to wake up at an early hour and then the excitement of being so close to WDW! I reluctantly get up. We have a poolview at the Radisson so I peek out the curtain. Beautiful View! Sun Shining! It's gonna be a good day! That is until I get into the bathroom!LOL
I draw the curtains back as not to wake up DD and head into the bathroom for my morning ritual. As I am sitting there, I notice something crawling across the tub. I flick it into the tub. I'll drown you later! Some more movement catches my eyes and as I turn my head, there is a line of ants marching from the floor to the drain spout and back again! I start giggling to myself knowing full well that DD who hates insects of all kinds will freak if she sees this! I start flicking them into the bathtub and drown the rest at the side of the tub!
I phone the front desk to inform them of our unregistered guests and are told that someone will phone me back. I get a call from Security
, and am asked to leave the room so that they can spray! I tell him that DD is still sleeping, I only just got up and have not had my coffee as of yet and I am not leaving yet! I ask him to bring up the spray and take care of it as we leave for SHOPPING!
By this time DD is awake and goes into the bathroom to great her new roomates! She did not freak out as I had suspected but was having fun flicking them!
Security shows up with the spray and suggests I start at the A/C unit as that is were they would have come in and work my way around the perimeter of the room! A/C unit? Uh, that may explain the strange smell after I accidently turned on the heater! Toasted Ants!
We get ready, I spray, and off to my Fav Spot for Breaky, Shoney's! We have earmarked this day for shopping and nothing but!
We head to our fav spots, Premiere, Belz, Addidas Outlets! DD has always wanted to try Sonic, so we stop in for a quick late lunch/dinner. I was surprised how good it was and it was cute how the waitress brought your food out on rollerskates!
We were part of the Great Blackout of 2003 and when we were in WalMart, the lights went out! I thought to myself, Here we go again!LOL But as I fully understand, this is common during a Thunderstorm and continue shoppping in the dark!
I won't bore you with our finds but thank goodness that I got a free car upgrade! Otherwise an economy car trunk would not have been enough!
Our last stop was Target and then the rains came! I heard just how bad it can get but WOW! I can barely see out the windshield, the wipers are going and still can't keep up with keeing the rain off! It's time to head back and relax. Luckily made it back to the Radisson before it caught up with us once again! Took what we would need for the night and left the stuff for we are leaving for AKL in the morning!
As we enter the room I first check the bathroom to see how our other guests are doing! The tub looks like on of the 101 Dalmations! Next it's time to see if they are allowing guests to go swimming! As I head over to the window I encounter my own swimming pool! There is a great big puddle and the carpet is very, very squishy! Of course I had to take my shoes off!
I phone front desk and inform them of this situation! This time they send up Maintenance with a Super Duper Vacuum and he proceeds to suck up the water! He appologizes profusely, especially after my tale of the Ants! He said why did we not change rooms? I said we were only here for the night now and that as long as the Radisson did not charge me for the extra guests in my room, I would be happy!LOL
He commented it was nice to have guests with a sense of humour and apologized again. Hey things happen, plus we were off to our dream vacation in the morning! AKL!
The next morning did notice that the Radisson had taken $10.00 off for the one night even without asking.
As this is getting long, if you have any specifics regarding the Rad, I would be glad to answer. Would I stay there again, yes, but without the added visitors! If we had been staying longer I would have asked to move but as the ant situtation seems to be localized to the bathroom tub area and believe me I checked! did not want the hassle of moving!
Stay Tuned, it does eventually get better!
