Bad AP timing and DVC use year

So I didn't time my AP activation to line up with my use year. Was trying to book a trip late Jan and finish on my last AP day in Feb. Being I'm using mostly 2026 points I know i can only technically book on a stay starting Feb 1. For me to get the Jan part of the reservation I'm short 64 pts. Now the question the is the only to cover what I need is to buy the 64 who has 2025's ? I'm guessing rules are rules and there's no exceptions on trying to use points beyond my use year? Curious if anyone has suggestion beyond the above?

I'm really not sure I see a big advantage to having the use year and AP year align. Mine never did fully line up. They came close for awhile, but since COVID that hasn't really been an option with my travel plans. A big group trip the first Thanksgiving after the parks re-opened foiled any plans of them aligning.

You can not borrow 2026 UY points for stays that would occur in your Feb 2024 UY, which is when those January dates fall.

You can either have someone else rent you those nights, or find someone to transfer points to you.

I am not really sure what the AP ending date has to do with it other than you are trying to squeeze one last trip in and you are out of points.

I’m not sure what original poster was referring to but for me the ap dates don’t work well for park reservations to make me “feel good”. We actually have 3 separate ap dates since kids came on line as needing at age 3 for different times of year. We often find self booking the room and park passes for 4 of us with one of the kids waiting until closer to renew so we can get park passes. Hasn’t been an issue yet but I imagine not being able to book park passes until renewal close to trip could be annoying for certain trips.
