Backyard buddies

Besides various family members who come to visit frequently, we share our yard with raccoons, squirrels (two who will come onto our porch for peanut butter sandwiches), possums, an occasional skunk, a herd of deer and tons of birds. That's what you get when the forest is a few feet from the backyard.

The second picture is at my basement window. In the early mornings when I workout down there they all clamour for a front row seat to gawk and mock me through the window.

Too funny! I love that animals watch us as much as we watch them.

Do you see kangaroos like I see deer -- ie, you watch them, but you see them so often it's not a huge deal?

We have lots of deer around here. We also have squirrels, raccoons (for the first time in my life I saw 6 of them together crossing the street perpendicular to mine a few weeks ago), and bunnies. I think my county has been trying to control the coyote population here -- they have killed lots of cats in our subdivision. And we have a lone fox that hangs out by our community pool.

I went out yesterday afternoon to look for the koala I heard, but she's moved on. She'll be back though
