Here is one site.

Also, on the Purple Rain album we did a test with professional recording equipment. You could record stuff and then play it in reverse at basically any speed.

It went "something" like this:

Hello, how are you? I am fine because I know the end is coming soon.

Exciting? Not really, but was much more clearly audible than the ones in the link above.

Playing "Another one bites the dust" and I ain't buyin' it. I do not hear what they claim is being said.

Styx - Mr Roboto (I think) is backmasked with the Catholic Kyrie. I used to be friends with Dennis DeYoung's son Matthew. According to him Styx was accused of santanic backmasking on another song/album so they really did it on Mr Roboto.

I used to have the album and I've heard it. I think they only put the 2nd recording on the vinyl so feeding cd's into a computer wouldn't produce the recording.

I'm sure my details are sketchy as it's been 10 years since I last talked to anyone who would be in the know about such things.

I'm pretty sure we listened to a backwards message in Pink Floyd's "The Wall" back when I was in high school. It was a few ( :rotfl: ) years ago, and I can't even remember what song it was on, but I kind of remember something about sending a message to old Pink? Does anyone know what I'm referring to, or did I make this up?

A particular Beatles song, played backwards, says "have a nice day".

This has nothing to do with backwards messages, but Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" CD almost perfectly matches up with the Wizard of Oz. :|

I had Purple Rain on vinyl in the '80's and played it backwards. Yes, it did play something like "Hello, how are you? I am fine because I know the end is coming soon." I no longer have the album or a player so I can't go back and confirm the exact wording.

Curious, how does one play something backwards?

LOL. That "Hit Me Baby One More Time" played in reverse is REALLY clear!

hehe if you want to know if they exist, might I suggest you listen to Black Sabbath. There may be something there.

Great now I am not going to be able to slip tonight after listening to Stairway to Heaven backwards. I am going to burn just for listening to it!

oops that's sleep not slip, see how shook up I am????????????????????

Well, back in the old days, when i was a kid, you used to manually spin the record backwards on the needle.

these days I am sure you could probably use some sort of software to play music backwards on a computer.

I have heard that ELO inserted a secret backwards message in Fire on High as a response to the rumors that they were into devil worship. Don't know how true that is though.

That one is true, and the voice is easy to hear in both directions. They didnt try to hide it and the message is a joke (not in anyway satanic).. The voice says "The Music is reversible, but time is not. Turn Back Turn Back". Turn Back" Its right at the beginning of the song, during the spooky music. The voice is clear and obviosly reversed. Listen for "KaB Nurt, Kab Nurt, Kab Nurt" (turn back reversed). You cant miss it and the rest of the message is even easier to hear.

IN the early 80s, I used to be really into listening for these things. I came to the conclusion that most of them are not real.

I haven't tried it, but someone once told me that if you played N Sync backwards it actually sounds like music.

Yeah, me either. And if you listen closely, it's basically "Another one bites the dust" being said backwards.

Actually, I thought he was reaching on several of these. However, "Hit Me Baby One More Time" was pretty clear to me. Weird Al I am sure put his in on purpose! :rotfl:

This was bugging me (about The Wall), so I did a google search and this is what I found:

From http://www.eeggs.com/items/6907.html

1- Put on Record 1, Side 2 (I mean the vinyl LP; if you have the CD or the cassette you're not very likely to find this!)
2- With the turntable in the Stop position (i.e. not moving!), put the pickup needle in the groove between track 1 (Goodbye Blue Sky) and 2 (Empty spaces)
3- Raise the volume level a lot!! (Don't worry: on headphones this won't hurt...they usually have a weaker frequency response than loudspeakers.)
4- Now the hard part comes: without starting the turntable (i.e. still keeping it motionless!) spin the record backwards (with your fingers, or in any other way you like) at an approximate speed of 33 RPM. (Doing this while it's spinning is even more difficult, according to me!)
5- If you listen carefully (especially on the left channel) you should hear amidst all the background noise a very low-pitched and muffled voice saying what follows: "Congratulations. You have just discovered the secret message. Please send your answer to Old Pink, care of the Funny Farm". Thie was INTENTIONALLY recorded backwards: you don't hear anything in the normal direction.

Glad to know I didn't imagine this!

Edited to add: Ok, now I feel really stupid. I went back to the link the OP provided, and realized this was on there. I did look at the link when I first read the post, but didn't recognize the song title so I didn't click on it! Duh!

I remember trying this out with a beatles song one time when I was a teenager. We were certain we could hear it saying something about 'turn me on', lol.

While they may exist, I think it is ridiculous to think we are actually getting a subconcious message from them when playing the recording normally. Wasn't that what the big deal was supposedly about in the first place?
