We are part of a MG and some of "the men" in the group want to do a backstage tour. The one most interested in is the KTTK. Does anyone have any experience with this tour and is it worth the 5 hours. They are particularly interesting in learning about the behind the scenes workings of WDW. If anyone has some insight, it would be great.

It is a great tour, if you, as you say, want to learn about the backstage 'secrets' and that. I have taken many of the tours and KTTK is right up there. Very enjoyable. Here is a link with more details. http://www.allearsnet.com/btp/tours.htm Make sure you guys get any discounts that might be appicable to you. Enjoy.

KTTK is definately worth the time & expense. My DH & I were in WDW January '06 and enjoyed the peek inside the "Illuuuuuuusion" of Disney and the MK. When we return in February '07 we may take the tour again. I would like to see if our CM Guide Rhea is still doing tours or if she has moved on to something else in the World. Hopefully she is still a guide. No one does it better then her.

Do the KTTK tour right after park opening time.
They let you in (same entrance that is used for all the people doing breakfast with "Cindy"), before the crowd.
It was neat walking around on an empty Main Street while we waited for our tour and we got to watch the park Opening Ceremony from inside. That was cool!!

DH and I did the KTTK tour on our honeymoon. It was a different way to experience the park. Now we share as much of the info as we can when we're there with our family. You get to see parts of the MK you'd otherwise not get to see. The time goes by relatively quickly.

Thank you everyone for the great information! I just looooove this board. I get the best information. I want to take this tour myself now. I am definitely going to propose getting the first tour of the morning. My DH will love being inside the park with noone else on Main Street. How cool!!!

I've never been on the tour, but I'd love to go sometime! I have only heard great things about people from people who have gone. Have fun!

We did the KTTK tour a few weeks back and thought it was a great way to get a different view of MK. We did the 9:00 tour and Jason was our guide. All the CMs we interacted with were very gracious and Jason was awesome and did a super duper job. And while I have done a lot of reading (books and these boards) I did learn a few new pieces of trivia. I thought it was definitely well worth the time and money.
