I just want to put in a plug for the Backstage Magic tour. This is the 7 hour tour that truly goes behind the scenes at Epcot, MK, MGM and a number of production and working sites. It was something DH and I had always wanted to do. Our guide, James, gave us lots of info on how Disney's cast of thousands create the magic we all enjoy!

It was an amazing experience, and totally worth the $$$! I highly recommend it.

If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to try to answer.

DisneyDuo, it sounds great! how did you travel between parks? did you learn a lot of new things? did you get on any attractions? was it mostly walking?

we've done the keys to the kingdom tour (in MK) and wondered if it was worth it to do the backstage magic tour. has anyone done both and can compare?

Ooh...I'd like to know too! I found out I'm arriving a full day before my sister (airline ticket snafu), so this is now a possibility for me...

I'm booked for this tour on May 19, 2005 and I am so excited about it. I was reading reviews of it on allearsnet.com and they mentioned they saw behind the scenes of Body Wars. But I think it is closed now, so I was wondering about that. Did you see any behind the scenes of Body Wars or any other rides?

Also, how was the lunch at Mama Melrose?

How many people were in your tour group?

:D

DH and I also loved this tour! We enjoyed the luxury motor coach transportation from park to park. The insider information you glean is unbelieveable! It's also a pretty good value. Granted, it's the most expensive tour offered, but it's also the only tour that does not require you to pay park admission for that day. And on top of that, you get a fabulous meal at Mama Melrose. We also had ice cold bottles of water and everyone was given a commemorative trading pin too. IMHO, it's one of the best things offered by WDW.

As NCByrne said, the travel is by bus and walking. We saw behind the scenes at American Adventure in Epcot - amazing how it all works! (I won't give away the secrets here ;-) Lunch at Mama Melrose's was served family style for the whole table - tons of food, very good! There were about 12 in our group - all adults, so I don't know if kids are allowed on the tour. We also got the water on the bus, plus a really cool nametag and a special pin at the end of the tour.

We didn't actually ride any attractions on this tour. We did get to watch the afternoon parade at MK, with very informative background commentary by our tour guide.

I don't want to say too much about exactly what we saw, so I won't spoil the surprise for those who take the tour. But we did see things we never imagined about how Disney works.

Can't compare to Keys to the Kingdom, since we haven't done that one yet.

If you want to do this, make your reservations early! We originally wanted to do the Segway tour at Epcot, but it was totally booked for the ten days we were there. And we barely got into the Backstage tour. So if you think you want to do it, don't wait! Believe me, you won't feel like you wasted a day - unless all you want to do is ride the rides ;-)

Hi, Unfortunately my wife and I cannot afford to do this tour, as I'm sure many cannot. Is there any way you could post a *Spoiler* thread regarding the secrets you saw? Just put *Spoiler* warning on the post so everyone has a chance to stop reading if they want.

Without hearing through this format, I'll never know it as we just can't afford it.

We just booked our Backstage Magic Tour and I am so excited!!! I've been wanting to do this for such a long time!

To answer a question posed earlier in the thread - I was told when we were booking our tour that you had to be older than 16 to take the tour.
