I just did this tour in June and while I greatly enjoyed it, I found the guides to be lacking. It was Mike & Mike (yup, two Mikes) and they've been working with the Disney Institute since it started. Maybe they are just burned out on Disney, but they seemed tired and were not personable. They gave good information, but lacked enthusiasm and hardly spoke to anyone at lunch. Usually the Disney Tour Guides are more outgoing, high energy and very engaging, so I was quite surprised.
That being said, the tour was well worth the money. We spent about 30 minutes backstage at the American Adventure, then to the huge maintenance building where we saw how they create and repair ride vehicles. Lunch was at Whispering Canyons and was surprisingly tasty. At DHS, we went into the costume shop and saw how the ToT ride works. Lastly, we went to AK to see the parade floats up close, the horticulture areas for all parks and then saw the parade from a special viewing place.
There wasn't much walking at all and they provided lots of bottled water to keep hydrated.
Great tour in general and it sounds like the other tour guides have been very good.
