I'm looking for some opinions on the Backstage Magic Tour... Is it worth the $$$? Do they escort you out of the park when it's over or do you get to find your own way out and possibly get sidetracked? ;)
How is the meal that is provided? Is the MK part the same as the Keys to the Kingdom tour? Where do you go within each park and what attractions do you go into?
Do they really check the picture ID?
Thanks for any information that you can provide.

My DH and I took the tour in 2000 and thought it was the best day of our trip. Well worth the $$$. MY DH is an engineer and I am in operations so we both found it facinating. I don't know what has changed since 2000 but this is a brief of our trip.

We started and ended the tour outside of EPCOT. Our group was about 25 people, so we managed to stay together fairly easily. There is a chartered bus to drive you around so no worries about getting lost. We ate lunch at Mama Melrose's in MGM. They basically brought one of each dish and it was all you could eat.

Some of what we saw (behind scene):
EPCOT - Backlot, Body Wars, Living Seas, American Adventure
MGM - Fantasmic, Costume shop, Imagineering
MK - Underground, Computer Room, Parade Control, Parade Storage

We haven't taken the Keys to the Kingdom tour but from what I hear there is a little overlap but not much.

I don't remember whether they check ID or not.

I hope this helps. As I mentioned earlier, we believe it was well worth the cost. It really opens your eyes to how much effort is put into creating the "Magic" at Disney.

We took the tour last month. It is well worth the money. Actually, the tour changes regularly depending on what is going on (what is open/closed etc). One thing we did that I had not read anywhere is we visited the Disney Florist Shop (not a retail store) where they put together the gift baskets.

We went to the maintenance shop and saw the sheet metal shop, carpentry shop, machine shop, etc.

We did go down into the utilidors like the keys to the kingdom tour but it was a different part of the utilidors (at least compared to when I took the KTTK tour in 2000.

We went to the Christmas warehouse, same as the Yuletide tour.

Yes, they check photo IDs.

The lunch was very good. Family style. And since we only had 6 people on the tour that day, it really felt like family.:D

We took the tour on 6/14 and our guide was Nancy. It was the best experience I have had at Disney. We saw so much stuff!! WELL worth the money, and we kick ourselves for not doing it sooner!!
Started at Epcot and ended at Epcot...lunch at MGM, Mamma Melroses (included in price) Yummy!
You MUST have photo i.d.!
We went into the American Adventure attraction, Central Shops, Floral Shop, Costuming (where you drive by on the MGM Backlot tour), Uniforms and lockers at Epcot, the Christmas decorations warehouse (OMG!!! :earseek: ) drove by the treatment plant (my DH designs and maintains them for a living) the tree farm, utilidors at MK, ooh!! There was so much to see and talk about!! We loved it!!::yes::
