My DH & I are going in May (by ourselves!) and I would like to take a backpack. Any suggestions on some good ones that aren't too big or too expensive. I will be taking my digital camera and water, etc.

Thanks!!!!

We have a Disney backpack. I 've never carried it personally, but my DH dosen't complain. It has nice padded shoulders. it's black and it says Disney on the front pocket(in the writing that looks like the characters). I will check for you to see if it's still there. It matches my fanny pack

I just did a search for backpacks on disneydirect.com and I didn't see it. Sorry!!

I just used my daughter's school backpack. Nothing fabulous. I had water, cameras, snacks, umbrellas, money, sunglasses, autograph book, etc. My dh and I took turns carrying it. I liked having all that along. We were able to take it on all the rides!

We usually just go to Wal-mart-Target, etc, and purchase a small backpack. Not our usual LL Bean ones. We carry umbrella, plastic bag with meds, poncho, nylon jacket ect. Lightweight but essential stuff. Always send packages back to resort so no lugging around there. I really try to limit the things in my fanny pack to ID, one debit card and some cash, powder, blush and lipstick and a small digital camera. This year my mother(79)will have a wheelchair so we will be able to stash the packback with her. Be prepared though to possibly have to open it for secuiry reasons.

I have been carrying the drawstring "sling bags" the last few trips. Before our February trip I actually made them from cute retro Disney fabric that I found at Hobby Lobby and used the iron on craft bond to give it some stiffness. Really easy, trust me, I'm NOT Suzy Homemaker. Anyway, we were in the shop that you literally run into as you go from Future World into the World Showcase, right where the double decker bus has the characters. They had sling bags with sorcerer Mickey embroidered on them for <$20. This bag is really nice, has a seperate pouch with velcro closure for cell phone, pockets inside for stuff, I'm very pleased. I need to make sure it goes into the suitcase WHEN I START PACKING TONIGHT for our trip FRIDAY! Hooray, time to get out of town again!

Hi there
Just to follow up on the earlier posts. The black backpack with the character-like letters is still available in the parks. Saw them at the emporium and mousegears March 18-20. Also, they have new ones with the Where the magic lives logo. Also, the drawstring sorcorer mickey was very! cute but I found the strings to look short. rcraw45425 how much room is there in that bag. It looked narrow when the strings are pulled? I love drawstring bags and I decided against that one as I was uncomfortable for me to put on. Probably just me being sensitive.. OP whatever you decide make sure that you dont overpack because after that first day of a filled backpack you will be dying to lighten up. Have fun!!

Last year we brought a small backpack from Walmart in the handbag section for our digital camera. I found it was so comfortable to carry I emptied my handbag and used it in instead.

DH wound up carrying the digital camera in a small case. :love2:

I'm going to do the same thing on our next trip.

I would suggest getting one with good padded shoulder straps and possibly waterproof. I started using a backpack about two years ago on our trip and I found it to be very convenient to keep everything in.

As a personal experience, after dozens and dozens of days at the parks hauling around a backpack—with a spectrum of styles and contents outlined in the notes above—on visit I wore a pair of Old Navy cargo shorts and could load all our “junk” into the pockets. While I may have looked a bit goofy (although I never noticed anyone gawking) it was truly the most liberating experience. Able to move freely across the park and through attractions without worrying about the bag, weight, heat, etc.

Now if we go, (getting a locker for larger things in case) this is the only way to travel! Just a thought! But what a difference it makes!

Hi Tammy here! I recently bought these jansport light weight nylon type drawstring bags. Heres the dilemma , I bought 4 one for each of us is it wrong to make 2 kids 7 and 10 carry their own water and stuff in their bags? Should they carry bags? I was thinking I could make my own shoulders lighter! LOL AM I TERRIBLE

Daisylove, it's actually pretty roomy. I can fit two packs of two disposible ponchos, my cell in the pouch, lipgloss/chapstick in the zipper pack, meds in a ziplock, lightweight windbreaker, foldup mickey umbrella from the gift shop. Kids and DH actually swap off carrying it, it's pretty light. We actually carried the camcorder in it some too.

Thanks. I saw in a few weeks ago and we willbe back in June. I am tempted. I love the drawstring style and the outer pockets. Decisions, decisions. OP along with Backpack I usually bring a small cooler for water etc. I have the stroler so it works for us. I also have a backpack from target that has a cooler built in. Always a good posibility.

Remember they also sell those lanyard things tha twill hold your water bottle around your neck. I actually thought about one of those for the kids, I've actually gotten to an age,as has DH, that we have quit taking our own water/drinks to the parks. We drink Dasani anyway so we will just buy one bottle and share, same with a drink. Inevitably I'm the one that winds up having to lug all of this junk around and my shoulders can only handle so much. I did find a wonderful new thing, Coppertone has cone out with an aerosl can of #30 soray sunscreen. An alcohol spray, not a lotion, so no need to rub it in. I bought two cans of it at Walmart. I hate rubbing the stuff in because I have acrylic nails and a lot of it winds up messing up the polish. Maybe I'll post that! :)

I love the durablility and light weight features of this product. It is a little expensive, but will last forever! I have both a backpack and a medium sized bag that has a long adjustable strap to wear across my body. It packs great too.

On our last trip DH and I had a bag that could be worn as a backpack. It had a small insualted bottom section - big enough for two average size bottles of water. It also had a mesh section where we put camera, autograph book, etc. The water stayed cold. The other stuff stayed dry.
