I'm really sorry if I'm about to step on some toes here, but I feel it needs to be said.

When wearing a backpack, please remember that there are people around you, and do not get offended if someone tells you that you are hitting people.

Our recent visit was marred with this problem several times. People stuff the backpack to the brink and then either forget they are wearing them or don't care that it is in someone elses space. I found it especially troublesome when we were in packed lines for Haunted Mansion and POC.

Thanks for letting me rant!!

I guess it's easy to forget something strapped on your back sometimes. Yes, people should apologize if they bump someone else with their bag. I like the people who keep turning from side to side, continueing to slap me with their back pack and ignoring my "excuse me, I'm right behind you". :teeth: This happens all of the time on comuter trains here in Los Angeles too!

I know just what you mean. My husband carries a backpack, and more than once, he bopped me right in the face with it. I kept telling him to take it off his back while we were waiting in line, which is what I did with mine.

Actually, this is exactly why I won't "let"
my DH wear one! Neither do I...

You can rant and vent, I'm with you on that! I've been knocked around so many times, and bruised from rude people, I hate it so much! :earseek:

"Preachin to the choir" !! I agree 100% and that's why if it can't fit in my fanny bag, it don't go! :rotfl:

Just wondering where you all carry extra clothes if you don't have a backpack? We go in winter so we are always either stripping clothes off or adding clothes on throughout the day. We tend to stay in the park all day and not leave in the afternoon. My fanny pack carries money and the camera so its close by but other than everyone carrying around extra clothes, I can't really think of anything other than a backpack.

I carried a small backpack on our last trip and was never aware of bumping anyone with it (but I guess that's the point right?). I'm just wondering why people are standing so close that they would be bumped by someone wearing one. I figure if I bump someone with my little backpack then they're probably standing too close. Of course, we usually go in off season so it's less crowded. I wonder how much that plays into it? The ones that bother me are the rolling backpacks I was seeing everywhere. Those just seem like an accident waiting to happen.

SandyinCanada (my grandparents are from Quebec) :teeth:

We rented lockers. We go in Spring,so we have the opposit problem you have. We endure heat. The mornings start off nippy,so we do windbreakers,by noon,we're sweating. So we put our stuff in lockers, and if we need them again by evening,we just go get em' out! :sunny:

How much do lockers cost and how big are they? Do they get taken early? How about getting back to a locker to get something - is it treck at MK or Epcot?

I wear a back pack (I actually started out with a smaller one and the straps were killing me so I bought a new one at WDW) but I try to take it off when we are in tight places (like the stretching room in HM). If I were to hit someone I would definitely apologize though!

True, we did think about doing that once. It seems so inconvenient, do you find it so? We also park hop, do you know if you would just keep your receipt for the next park or do you have to pay for another locker?

I just wanted to add that I've never had a problem with people and backpacks, maybe its because I do like to keep my distance. But rolling backpacks? the kind on wheels that you pull?? If thats what they are, yikes, those should be banned and treated the same as a wagon...very dangerous.

All4fun,
The little back packs are perfect for touring the parks. The ones I hate are those huge backpacks that are loaded beyond believe! I keep my distance, but those backpacks invade a large space. It's crazy.
Why anyone wants to lug around all that stuff is beyond me! Bad for the back. :teeth: I'm happy with my small back pack.

ITA with you. My little backpack served me well on our last trip - and it functioned as a diaper bag for my ds as well! I also don't understand why people have to lug so much stuff around. I saw some of those people with their huge packs and wondered if they also had their kitchen sink in there, lol. I have never been hit by one though. I guess I know to keep my distance. :) I also agree that it's best to take it off in tight spaces.

And yes, I did see people with rolling backpacks on our last trip - crazy!

To the poster who asked about the lockers - yes, you can keep your receipt and park hop, just like with the rental strollers. It's been quite a while since I rented a locker but I believe you pay something like $5 (could be more now, I don't know). When we rented a few years ago, we also got a Disney dollar when we returned the key, but I don't know if they're still doing that either. Personally though, the lockers are just a little too inconvenient for me. I don't want to trek all the way to the front of the park to get my stuff. Of course if I didn't have a stroller to stuff things in, and had coats to lug around, then that would be a little different.

When visiting in the winter we just wrap our hoodies around our waists when it gets warm enough to take them off.

I also wonder why some people find it neccesary to carry around these hulking packs. If you need that much stuff with you, I agree, rent a locker!

SandyinCanada,

I'v looked and looked for an answer...
so?" We also park hop, do you know if you would just keep your receipt for the next park or do you have to pay for another locker?"

I can't remember, and I'v looked at a few sites and there is nothing mentioned where I looked. I'm SURE there is SOMETHING written somewhere...just can't find it now. Seems to me we saved receipts but don't take that as gospel. ;) Maybe someone else has a locker answer.Good luck

If you keep the receipt you can get a locker at no charge in the next park.

Thanks, something to think about depending how the weather is. DH is the only one that wears a backpack and he isn't the fidgety type so hopefully we haven't knocked out too many people along the way, lol

Me too! If it can't fit in the fanny pack, it doesn't come out with us.
