Can anyone recommend a small backpack appropriate for a toddler to wear? I would like to get one for my DS (almost 2) so he can copy Mommy and Daddy with his own stuff!

Are you planning to have him wear it in the park or just while traveling, i.e. at the airport?

I don't know that I'd let a toddler wear a backpack while at the parks just because all that walking is exhausting enough without the extra weight. And it's just one more thing to deal with when getting on and off the rides.

I found a very small backpack for DD at Walmart. It's large enough to hold a brownbag lunch and that's about it. She also has a plastic Ariel backpack that came with art supplies in it. It was in with the other princess stuff at the toy store. It's very small. I wonder if Disney makes those with a Cars or Toy Story theme for boys?

actually this would be just for his to "have his own" since he HAS to have everything mommy has! his OWN cup, spoon, plate, etc. I think you get the idea. Right now he would have a small bag of snacks, a banana, and a juice box in it. and it is for when we go to the store or playground. So not very big!

Gotcha! :thumbsup2 Check out Toys R Us or another toy store, and also the discount stores like WalMart or Target. The one I got for DD at Walmart is an Eastsport brand. It has nicely padded straps and very durable material. It's held up very well and we've had it for over a year.

I love it when I can answer a question!! I have a Stephen Joseph backpack for DS (2) and he loves it!! It is red and blue with a train on it, and his name on the flap. I got his on ebay a year or so ago and it is perfect for him!!

We got a tink one at Marshalls (don't know if you have a Marshalls near you but they have tons of them...and yes, DD LOVES having her own bag...espeically at the airport). She was two when she got hers.

pottery barn kids has a cute, personalized backpack for toddlers.... my DD's both have one and they are 2 and 4

You can find the smaller size at Target. My DD 4 has been using a backpack for several years. He always wants to do whatever his big sis does.

Right now he is wearing his Thomas the Train backpack.

I bought a pink one for my 2-year old for preschool. You can also buy them in blue. You can have them personalized, or not.

Good luck! Our almost-3-year old is definitely taking hers in the car (on the way to Disney in June). It will hold her "goodies" for the road trip...

Both of my kids have various LL Bean Backpacks. They have very small ones all the way up to double compartment ones. My three year-old (just turned) uses their traditional bookpack with only one compartment. It has lizards on it. My daughter has one with dragonflies. When my daughter was 18 months she used their smallest one, however, it doesn't fit much. Great quality and they stand up to almost anything.

My absolute favorite is the Half-Pint by Jansport. It is the perfect size for my 3 year-old, and her older sister has one too for the plane. I bought one of the tiny clip-on Minnie's for the outside of their packs. They also get; wipes, chapstick, small activity books, playdoh and snacks for the plane etc...My older daughter also packs her Ninetendo must haves...I got the backpacks on ebags.com. I would highly reccomend them!
