Backlot Express or Flatbread Grill?

Hi! Haven't done counter service at the Studios in quite a while. Not real thrilled by the food at the Studios in general. But using the DDP for our May trip and looking for a decent CS in the Studios and these were recommended by a friend who recently ate at both. Any feedback pros or cons would be appeciated. Thanks in advance!

I'd agree that the food at the Studio is uninspiring. Of the two I'd chose Backlot Express only because the Flatbread Grill doesn't actually serve Flatbread.

We didn't like the Backlot express. My son has food allergies and they were not willing to work with us and forced him to eat a cold chicken dish with ranch dressing (which he is allergic to!)

There are a few hidden gems at the Studios. You just have to find them. As for where to eat, the the Flatbed Grill has an excellent Chicken Caesar wrap, and very good BBQ sandwiches. The Backlot Express has a very good Turkey Sandwich, and the grilled veggie sandwich is also very good. Both restaurants also have the usual kids stuff: burgers, hotdogs, fries, etc. But we like them because you can get different things to eat, like the Caesar Wrap.

The best "hidden gem" that we've found for food at MGM is the "Lounge" next to the 50's Prime Time Cafe. Most people think of it as just a waiting area for the 50's Prime Time. But, it is actually a bar where anyone can enter, and you can order food, too. We've had great food there, and cold drinks, too. The 'smores can't be beat! And you don't have to have reservations for the restaurant to go in there.

I have not tried the Flatbread Grill only the Backlot Express and My Dh and I thought it was pretty good. Again there is not a great selection at DS so it will have to do
