We leave for the the world in 1 week, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to make sure all of our photos get backed up while we are away. My DH and I both use the iPhone for our photos, and have them back up to the cloud. Problem is, I'm certain that on a 9 day trip, we will take more than a combined 1000 photos, so what's the best way to back them up without having access to a computer? In the past, I've uploaded to Shutterfly but my last trip down I grew very frustrated with the wifi and don't think I'll have the time or patience to upload a hundred photos each day.

I can upload my pictures from my iPhone 5 directly to Shutterfly? How the heck can i do this? Im iPhone challenged. I usually upload my pictures to my computer and then to Shutterfly.
Thanks so much.

In case nobody else replies - I went to the App Store on my iPhone 4S. I typed Snapfish in the search box. I downloaded the Snapfish app. Now I can upload directly from my phone to Snapfish. I would assume it works the same way for Shutterfly.

I dis the same with photobucket.... I have the ap on my iphone and upload new pics directly to it.

Yes, there is a Shutterfly app and as long as you have a good Internet/wifi connection you can upload directly to it.

Wow! Thanks sooo much everyone! Going to get the Shutterfly app mow. Thanks again!

I'm also a little iPhone challenged& was wondering how we were going to do the same thing, Can you upload pics from an iPhone to an iPad with more gig space or is uploading to one of the photo sharing sites a better way?

If you have the "my photo stream" option in the settings of both your iPhone and ipad turned on and both have a Internet connection, when you take a picture with your iPhone it will automatically upload to your ipad. So if you were at the park with your iPhone and your ipad is back in the room connected via wifi or cellular and your take a picture with the phone, a copy of that picture will automatically show up on the ipad.

Well, I did as you all suggested and downloaded the Shutterfly App.
I downloaded the app and put my pictures from my phone right onto Shutterfly using my phone.

BUT, then something VERY, VERY strange (VERY STRANGE) happened.
Once my pictures were uploaded I was looking around the app and saw where it says view or share or something like that Friends Photos.
Well, there was only one "friend" it is was a friend from YEARS ago, in fact we no longer speak???? :confused3

I DO NOT have Facebook for any other social media sites that I belong to and do have real friends that have Shutterfly. I did not request this old friend and I can't for the life of me wonder how I could see her pictures? :crazy2:

I ended up deleting the App from my phone since I wondered if I can see my old friend's pictures where I don't have FB or anything, who the heck would be looking at my pictures.

Does ANYONE have any kind of explanation they can think of?
It was SOOO STRANGE I almost called Shutterfly. How could this be?

Thanks.

Photo stream is your best option. Its built in to your iphone (if you have updated it) and backs up like 1,000 photos to the "cloud". Its automatic and does it in the background.

:thumbsup2 Agreed. Also, if you have multiple Apple devices linked to the same Apple account, you can view photos in the photo stream from all those devices. Our family uses this feature a lot. Once the vacation is over you can get on photo stream and move the photos to some other medium and delete them from photo stream if you like.

Buy the SD card reader for your phone and an SD card then back them up on that!

An iPhone cannot use an SD card.

No in itself it cannot, but third party vendors sells a small dongle that plugs into the phone's sync/charge port on one side and has an sd card slot on the other which allows you to plug in and sd card and then move the pictures to the sd card. Just google iPhone sd card reader and you will find them. Otherwise, I personally would go with my earlier suggestion of using the built in file sharing between apple devices.

My best guess is that you are in the contact list of this friend and she just shared her pictures with her entire contact list. If I go to my shutterfly page, I can see the pictures of anyone who has ever shared an album with me. Nobody has but if they did. Some people just do their entire email list and don't bother to only send to certain people.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I'm going to stick with the cloud and hope we don't exceed 1000 pics.
