:jester: We arrived at the Poly on Fri, Oct 17, anticipating staying at Tahiti but Hawaii opened a day early. The longhouse was wonderful, the staff great, our third floor balcony room offered a lovely view of the castle, etc. All in all, it was sad to leave after only a four night stay, but our memories will sustain us 'til next time.

Tell us more! Tell us More!
Did you smell smoke on the 3rd Floor? Was the furniture or bedding new? How about the rugs? I read from another poster that the hallway rugs were not changed! Is that true? Was the food at the lounge good?

:o We did not smell smoke on the third floor (our room, 3502) had a "No smoking" symbol on the door. The rugs in the hall looked new to me. In any case they were beautiful. I doubt if the furniture was new but it certainly was in spiffy condition. The lounge on the second floor was wonderful with great food and service. Friday, opening day, there were few people but lots of food. Saturday and Sunday were more crowded but very manageable with polite, lovely families. (I just saw one woman in a Polynesian bathrobe, pjs, fuzzy slippers, etc. She and her husband left quickly with their food.) We received a Polynesian chocolate bar on arrival and they were kind enough to honor my request for a birthday celebration for my husband: cake, balloons, noisemakers and hats, all left in the room. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.:earsgirl:

I thought the 3rd floor was "smoking optional"? Did they change this? If so, maybe I'll request 3rd floor instead of 2nd so we can have a balcony.

I too would like to know more about the third floor. It has always been smoking optional as far as I know and we've never requested it because of that reason. Is is non smoking now? So where are the smoking rooms I wonder? Sorry so many questions, but I love having a balcony and I am very sensirive to smoke. Thank you for your help.

Stupid me I can't get back on to my post and wanted to say that I am so happy to hear you had a good time. We love Poly Concierge and am happy to hear it's back in Hawaii, although our stay in Tahiti this past time was wonderful. Glad you made wonderful memories!!

:earsboy: In answer to your questions about the third floor Hawaii: when we arrived at Valet parking, the gentleman told us that Hawaii was open and that he would check on our room assignment. He came back and said that we were assigned the second floor. I told him that I had requested a second floor room because we were supposed to be in Tahiti and I wanted a balcony. He said that in Hawaii, the third floor was "smoking" and I said I didn't mind. When we went to the room, as I said, there was a "no smoking" symbol on the door. I did not inquire about other rooms on that floor. We were right near the elevator so maybe the rooms on the far end are smoking. Never thought to ask, sorry. Never smelled smoke on our end either.

We just got back from our stay and was in room 3514. There was no "No Smoking Sign" on our room. Half of the rooms have the signs, the others don't. We smelled smoke in the hallway near our room on the day we checked out. Our room did not smell like smoke however we were the first ones in it. We are not smokers and smoke does bother us but we wanted the 3rd floor. Hope this helps!

Hello - if you have a Lagoon view room on the ground floor of Hawaii, is there anywhere you can walk to? Or is there landscaping that discourages walking? Also, how secure are the slider doors in those rooms? Thanks so much!

Glad to hear you had a great time. We are planning on trying Polynesian Lagoon View Concierge next year so I love to read reviews about that resort. :D

Thank you Oliviaclare and GsMom for your replies. I guess they made the third floor half and half, smoking and non-smoking. It would have been nice if they had been able to add balconies to the second floor rooms, but as I was told this was not possible. Thanks again.

We had a ground floor lagoon view--I was able to walk out and sit in a swinging chair on the beach with no problem, and without mowing down shrubbery to get there ;)

We felt very safe in the room--the sliders had some sort of night lock feature on them. You can't lock the slider from the outside though, so if you enter and exit through it you can't go far.

Thanks so much for the info! What room number did you have at the Poly? And did you have a good view, or was it blocked by any trees? Thanks so much!
