Good evening All! We will be traveling to the world in December, and are looking for a way to avoid the I4 parking lot. Does anyone know an alternate route? We are coming from the north through Jacksonville and Orlando.

Are you driving on I95? You could take 95 to 528. Then exit at 417 and take that over to Disney.

What time of day (and day of the week) do you expect to hit Orlando? If you can arrange it so you're going through mid-day or after evening rush hour I'd just stick with I-4.

The easiest alternative is to go I-4 to 417 in the Sanford area, which takes the long way around.

429 is a dream. No traffic. Ever. Feels like you're entering DW through a secret highway!

Subscribing, as we never seem to hit I-4 at the right time, either. :car:

THANK YOU - so very much for the info, Ali! We tried to find this way in July, but failed. Now, thanks to YOU - we can go this way!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! :goodvibes :drive:

Just drove this way a few times last week. Be sure to take the International Drive exit off 417, then go straight onto World Center Drive. You will pass the Marriott World Center on your right, cross over I-4 and then go straight onto Disney property. Routes 528 and 417 are toll roads, so either have some cash handy or use EPass if you have one. Hope you have a good trip!

For anyone driving I-4 from I-95...there is about 12 miles of construction on I-4 between Daytona and Deland that should be avoided at all costs. We experienced it on Father's Day, traveling to Castleberry. NEVER AGAIN. The construction is not scheduled to be finished until early 2015. We live in Daytona Beach and will be going to WDW in early November and will be taking US 92 to DeLand, then taking I-4 to 417.

Does FL still have a different toll pass? I have an EZ Pass but the last time we used toll roads it had to be a Sun Pass.

Florida has started accepting the one we use here in NC as long as you have the transponder not the sticker. NC also now recognizes the Sun Pass on our system. This was in the news about a month ago. :thumbsup2

The signs all say EPass, not EZ Pass. I didn't try to use our EZ Pass, and unfortunately the EZ Pass web site does not list Florida as one of the states that accept it.

Oh Neat. I'm not home enough to actually see the news so thanks for the info. In some areas you can use the EZ pass or cash so I'll see if that type of lane is available just in case the pass doesn't work. I've already had an issue going through toll plazas and the pass not registering. I forgot to update the pass with my new car and ended up getting bills/fines from all the toll stations in New York on the way up to Maine.

We will be coming down I-95 also and usually take I-4. How much extra time does the US 92 Route take? Is there usually much congestion along this route? We are familiar with the southern portion of 417 and 528 to Canaveral. How is the travel on 417 in the northern section between US 92 and 528? Thanks in advance.:thumbsup2

Here is a link that verifies they are being accepted now. It is not the EZ Pass system that most states use it is our NC Quick Pass and Florida's Sun Pass . :thumbsup2 https://www.myncquickpass.com/en/home/index.shtml

Of course it had to be different from the EZ Pass. Since I'm in Charlotte, I have no need to use the toll roads so I never looked into getting the NC Quick Pass. I'll just be sure to bring the change jar with us when we go. It might be worth it to avoid the mess that is I-4.

If you change to the NC Quick Pass and make sure to get a hard case transponder it will work with all 3 systems NC Quick Pass, Sun Pass and EZ Pass. One transponder for all locations.:thumbsup2

Sometimes we go down I-95 to 528, that would avoid the I-4 construction that I mentioned. Or you could go down I-95 and take SR 44 over to I-4.

Otherwise you could:

Get off I-95 at exit 261 (U.S. 92 which is also W. International Speedway Blvd.) Head west on U.S. 92 towards DeLand. It’s a 4-lane highway with a few lights, but once you get out of the city, it should be smooth sailing. Go for about 14 miles and look for N. Kepler Rd. (there will be a stop light). You will take a left and continue to SR 44 (E. New York Ave). Left onto US 44 and that will take you back out to I-4. Then we pick up 417 (the Greenway) after the Seminole Towne Mall.

I know it sounds like a round about way, but if there is an accident in the construction zone of I-4, you're going to be sitting a long time. One of our local councilwomen call the area a "Cattle Chute" and there have been over 30 accidents per month since the construction started.

That might be worthwhile. Especially since I don't know how long I'll be in Charlotte. Thanks for all the advice.

Thank You for your directions. I believe we will try the 92 to 417 on our next trip. We also were somewhat caught up in the melee this past April. Looking for alternative. :thumbsup2
