Back to Back Trips in the Hottest Month of the Year, 4 Resorts and Some Magic Bands!! The How Could You Gang Rides Again!
Allow me to introduce the folks along for the first ride and the next one. First up-DH and Myself. DH is not a Disney addict by any stretch of the imagination, but he goes along for the "get away from home" and sometimes joins in on the fun.
Next is me, Linda. I AM a Disney addict, fully admitted and OK with that! My first trip to WDW was in 1981 with my mom and some family friends. It was only the Magic Kingdom back then, and the only resorts were the Poly and CR (neither of which my mom could afford). We stayed offsite
at a Travelodge in Kissimee and made a day visit to the park (maybe 2 days). The characters looked a bit funny back then. But that was all it took! I was hooked. We went each summer while I was in High School and made day visits to the park. In 1984 I got my first EPCOT Center experience (didn't go in 83) and made sure to go again the year MGM Studios opened their doors. We missed out on AK by several years. I wasn't up for WDW with an infant. In 1996 we had our first on-site stay at CBR! That was it! I've never looked back. Every stay since has been on-site. We have tried numerous different resorts-adding 2 new ones to the collection this summer!
Along with DH and myself for this first trip in end July/August were my son (right) and nephew (left). DS has been going to WDW or DL pretty much yearly since 2004. This would be DNephew's first trip ever.
So there you have it: an Addict, a seasoned vet, a newbie, and one "just going along to get away from home". Nothing could possibly go wrong with this plan, right?
Just a little backstory to explain 2 trips in one month's time. DD was supposed to be involved in a summer ballet intensive. DS did not want to lose out on summer vacation. So the idea was born that DS and I would go to WDW while DD was doing her intensive in early summer. DS decided he would be bored with Exciting, but old, Mom and asked if he could bring someone along. My sister-in-law was on board with letting one of her boys go along. Now there were 3. As the trip got closer, DH decided I would not be able to handle 2 boys by myself in Disney.
Now there are 4!
Then DD decided against going away for the summer intensive but wanted a mother/daughter trip. We had talked about this with a friend of hers and her mom (also a Disney Addict) before and decided to make plans for the trip. We wanted to go during a less busy month but I didn't want DD to miss too much school. So we opted for the last week of August. DD would just miss the first 2.5 days-no big deal.
DNephew would not get out of school until mid June.
Then he had a hockey conflict. Best time for him was last week of July into start of Aug. So that trip got bumped from June. What's an Addict to do?
Two trips during August....to Florida......hurricane season....HOT.....
Sure, why not?!!!
And now, for the participants of the August 25th-Sept 1st trip.
myself, DD-K , her friend K2, and K2's mom. They are seasoned Disney travelers and enjoy Epcot most. DD and I are DHS fans so we had trouble deciding how to divide our time and sometimes needed to split up to keep everyone happy.
We also acquired these little beauties for this trip:
More on them much later!
So now you have the who and the when.......what about the where?! We'll save that for next time.
