I'm still in the very early debating stages, but I'm thinking of back to back cruises next spring/summer.

As of right now, Cruise 1 is GTY only but Cruise 2 is pick your cabin only. Obviously I'd hope not to switch cabins between cruises, so is there anything I can do/should do if/when I book?

If I do chose to move rooms (maybe go from porthole to balcony) how does that work? I'd obviously have to pack/repack/re-unpack, but would I be allowed to reboard early with other back to backers or would I just get tossed in the line with everyone else?

(My favorite rooms are Deck 2, mid to forward which is where I've always been put when booked GTY. All the pick your own rooms are further back than I'd love, but totally doable.)

If you have different rooms, you will need to pack at the end of the first cruise, and your stateroom host will arrange to have you luggage moved to the next room. Make sure to take passport/id and any other carry on you want access to off the ship when you disembark. We had to go through customs, and then were directed back up to the cruise port area to check in for the next cruise. You will reboard early with other B2B cruisers.

My wife and I have a GTY room booked for the Wish maiden voyage, followed by a specific stateroom on the DVC cruise that follows. No idea where the rooms will be located in relation to each other. On our 1st B2B, we had the same room for both. On our 2nd, we had to move 2 or 3 staterooms down the hall.

I'm not sure how you would be able to get the same cabin for the two cruises as we always booked a specific room for our B2B's. If you don't get the same stateroom, you will have to pack;, however, your luggage will be moved from your old room to your new room by the stateroom attendant(s). You will check in a second time in the terminal and reboard with the other back to backer once the ship is ready so you don't have to wait for a specific boarding number to be called like you will for your first cruise.

You cannot do anything except have a CM take a note in your GTY reservation what cabin you have on the non-GTY cruise. If they can assign you the same stateroom once they do the assignment, they‘ll try and make it happen, but the odds are slim since it would involve that specific cabin not being booked on your GTY cruise. They will not move you or another party from a booked specifically booked to make it happen.

The B2B process doesn’t change if you change staterooms or not. Both hosts will be aware you are doing a B2B. They usually prepare those stateroom first, before moving your stuff in. You can go ashore and get back in the terminal reopens or follow the B2B process for guests not going ashore. That process varies depending on the port. Sometimes, you can disembark when you wish. Other times, you need to meet the group in a lounge and disembark with other B2B’ers not going ashore.

On the last night (or rather disembarkation morning), you’ll need to pack all your items but you leave the luggage in the stateroom. Anything on hangers can be left in the closet and will be moved directly. That is the usual procedure, but get your instructions from your host.
