Back to Back DCL Cruises

You're right that cheaper is a matter of "cheaper than what." I just looked up the prices for Dec. 5 and 12. Dec. 12 is currently $600 MORE for a cat 11, 2 people than what I paid for it. Dec. 5 is $200 less than Dec. 12....don't know if it might have been cheaper earlier.

While my ideal is to pay a little over $100 per person per day, I consider anything under $1000 for a 7 day cruise for an adult to be reasonable. Of course, then we add tips and "extras."

That is the week we have cruised in the past and they were the cheaper weeks then. Perhaps with the recent price jumps for DCL that has changed, but historically the first two weeks in December have had lower prices. When we booked for three years in a row we got cat 8 rooms for the four of us for under $3000. In 2004 I believe it was more like $2400 when we booked it. Perhaps the popularitity of those dates due to the prices caused DCL to increase them. :confused3

Our 3 night cruise is completely free (tips, etc.) because we are DVC members and added on to our contract - so we were thinking of either going to Disney for five days prior to the cruise - currently have reservations for five nights at BayLake Towers - then I was thinking maybe do the four night cruise instead (we just did all the parks in February). We also have a seven night cruise booked for February 2010. My girls had the same concern though about the back-to-back, i.e., same stops, drills, shows, etc. :confused3

We also have the bounceback and chose to add a 4 night cruise because 3 nights seemed to short. In general, I would have rather had a 7night cruise, but this deal was too good for us. The three of us got the 3 night cruise in a category 4 for just under $400. We added my mom for another $136.

We are also staying in the same room for the 4 night cruise. We've only been on one disney cruise before, so our thought was taking two cruises back to back would allow us to take more advantage of things we may not have time for otherwise. For instance, we never watched a movie on our 7 night because we didn't want to miss the shows. But maybe this time we can see a movie one evening without missing the great shows.

We're also going on the 3 night cruise together with the family we met on our first DCL cruise. So during that trip, we probably won't try Palo's. But the second cruise, we have a reservation. While I wouldn't probably want to do a lot of back-to-back short cruises because of the repetition, I figured this one time at least would actually benefit us and help us take more advantage of everything the ship has to offer.

I think tvguy meant why not do one 7 night cruise instead of 2 b2b Wonder cruises?

.

Yes, that's what I meant. Seems to me that B@B 3 to a 4 day or 4 to a 3 day you almost lose a whole day on the day between cruises.
