Hi Pals! We are in the process of booking our 2nd Disndy Cruise in 2006, and are looking at rooms off the back of the ship. Does anyone have an experience in one of these rooms, and if so, does:

the smoke from the stacks bother you?

the water noise seem louder?

The engine noise bother?

Thanks so much for your help! We are traviling with a deaf child and an asthamatic...both could be bothered by these things...

Do you mean in the veranda rooms....because any of the O/V or inside rooms won't be affected by any "smell" from the stacks....I could see the veranda rooms maybe having some wiff of something...more likely food from Topsiders.

The lower decks aft do sometimes have more engine vibration sensation/noise but nothing to be too concerned about.

We have stayed aft both in veranda rooms and O/V and never had any problems with "smells"...other than occasional wiff of food.

We've been on deck 7 aft for all of cruises, so I can only speak to this deck, but we've never had a problem with smell on our verandahs. The top of the stack is higher than just about anything on the ship, probably a good 50 ft. higher than the highest verandah. Coupled with the motion of the ship, the exhaust is never really an issue. Even in port, I've never had a problem.

The only noise that wakes me up on this deck is the vibration of the thrusters (which move the ship side-to-side) when we're entering port. For some reason this wakes me up, but I like to be up early on port days, anyway.

We just got back from a 7 day cruise and had stateroom 8600 which is in the VERY back on the right (starboard, I'm such an expert now) side.

No smells. No noise except for one morning from one loud family hanging over the railing. We did get 2 empty cream containers that blew down from Topsiders when it was windy one day - no big deal.

The only thing I noticed was when we were docking on the last morning (and I'm talking around 5 am) when they turned on the thrusters. It woke up and scared my little girl. It kept me awake also. Seemed like they couldn't quite get the boat in quite right. That one thing would not stop me from booking that suite again though.
