We're not quite home yet but sadly no longer in DLP. going to be writing a long TR in the coming days but thought I'd pop on
Here on my iPhone and say hello!
We had an amazing time, absolutely magical even though the weather couldn't have been much worse!
Quick list of highs and lows:
HIGHS
just about everything!
Salon mickey and share holders discount
Walking on all the rides for first 3 days
CMs (except one - see lows!)
Christmas stuff!
The park at night
BTM
Cocktails
Amazing meals
Hotel new York

LOWS
The weather :( the sun popped out intermittently on
Wednesday but it was pretty much constant rain and wind for six days! It ranged from misty cold rain to "almost unable to walk in a straight line" monsoon! But we didn't let it spoil anything for us!
Staff in the DLH - we came in for lunch and a nosey about and all 3 CMs were downright rude and ignorant to us. We were shocked - I'll explain fully in my TR.
Queues on thursday and Friday due to French public hols. Thankfully we had already done all the rides so were happy to take it easy on these days bit we saw 55 minute queues during EMH and waited in massive queues just to collect fastpasses. Knew it would be like this though so we didn't mind too much but will avoid days like this altogether in future.
Walts closed on Monday even though we had a booking and nobody seemed to know when it would be open - we made it yhere on Friday though

This looks like a lot of lows but there really weren't!!
Just that the lows required a bit of explanation lol
Weather and crowds not disneys fault, everything disney related was 90% amazing

'nearly' welcome back hun!!!

sounds like weather been similar to here then :confused3 which is a shame, but sounds like a good time - so will be lookin forward to ur tr, and also hearing bout the cms!!!

Welcome "almost" home.

The weather was a nightmare wasn't it? On Thursday we were so pleased to wake up to see all the puddles had dried up and were hopeful we were in for a good day but that turned out to the be worst day of all!!

I wonder if we saw you in Salon Mickey at any time?

Welcome nearly home! Sounds like you made it a wonderful holiday! Can't wait to read your trip report especially in relation to HNY - as we are heading there! Dying to hear about cms in DLH (we had an incident there too last January - but of course we just ignored the haughty wait staff and had fun with Goofy & the chipmunks!:banana:

Welcome almost home. Sorry I keep reading about the wet weather. I hope all else went well and looking forward to your trip report.

Thanks everyone for your replies - baby_belle we were in Salon Mickey on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, we hardly ever saw anyone else in there so not sure if we saw you?
We are now on the train from London to Glasgow, on a real downer today knowing that the trip is well and truly over :(
Just emailed the Disneyland Hotel complaining about the staff on Thursday. This is not something I do unless I have had a really bad experience, but I don't think I've ever had waiting staff be so rude to me anywhere let alone in such a plush and expensive hotel. It was so out of sync with the great experiences we had with every other CM at DLP that it very much stuck out for us and I felt I had to write a short letter to the hotel to let them know about it.
Short explanation - we turned up at Cafe Fantasia at about 2pm on Thursday wanting to see the hotel and have a light lunch. The bar and Main Street Lounge areas were very busy, no free tables, when we asked a CM where we should wait to be seated he didn't even reply, just waved his hand in an annoyed way as if to say "fend for yourselves".
(this might get long winded so i'll sum it up, lol)
2pm - arrived, 1st cast member ignores our question
2.10pm - found a table, sharing with an english couple
2.25pm - asked CM1 if we could order, ignored
2.35pm - asked CM2 if we could order, ignored
2.45pm - asked CM3 if we could order, ignored
2.50pm - other couple ask for the bill and they insist that CM1 takes our order when she brings it to them
The CM sighs heavily when we order food, saying "this will take a long time" (it only took about 15 mins, we didnt think it was that long), she is obviously annoyed that we ordered food. She repeated the order back and it was wrong, she got even more annoyed when we corrected her. This was the opposite of service with a smile, she appeared to be disgusted with the fact that she had to speak to us. When she brought the food over, it was thrown down without any further comment.
The english couple said they also had to wait 45 minutes to be served, they were residents at the hotel. A French family at the next table ordered 3 cokes, waited half an hour then asked where their drinks were and girl stormed off, came back with the cokes and slammed them down, glaring at the family. If looks could kill...
I'm not exaggerating, I've never personally been treated so badly by staff or seen others get treated so badly anywhere. All 3 CMs in the area were avoiding eye contact with customers, scurrying around looking annoyed but not serving anybody. We enjoyed our food and the atmosphere but this terrible service was a big blight on the trip for us, and it is the last thing we expected at DLH. We thought popping in there for a couple of hours would be a bit of luxury and a treat!
Sorry for the rant, I hope you can appreciate why we were annoyed. I'm really not a complainer - my sister and I are both waitresses and we have every sympathy for stressed out waiting staff. But there was no need for the rudeness and terrible attitude we were met with on Thursday.

Glad too you had a good time!!!:santa: Great that you were able to spend time and take it slow since the weather was so bad. Sorry about the unlovely CM experiences - what a downer during a nice holiday.

I feel like I should frame my rain poncho it was such an important part of my holiday - lol!:rotfl:

Welcome back! Wow, can't believe someone working in customer facing role would be so rude! :sad2:

Glad you didn't let it ruin your trip though, looking forward to your TR!

Welcome back!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read all about your trip, especially HNY!!!

Rubbish DLH service though - what was that all about??? :confused3
