Hi everyone,

We got back to England on Sunday morning (flight landed 15 mins early into Manchester at 9.15am.) Seriously depressed and jet lagged, never been this down after a trip before :( Holiday was pretty good but not great, this owing largely to the presence of my mother who managed to pretty much ruin everything and who we ended up just having to walk away from to calm down on several days. Big thanks go out to the Dolphins in Depth people who remained calm even with her pretty much ignoring everything they said to the point of putting the animals in danger at one point (you have no idea how embarassing it all was for me as well.) The only other low points when she was out of the question were having my ipod go missing before we'd even driven out of the airport - I must have left it on the plane but no one has handed it in, and our hire car breaking down in the Bennigans car park one night, leaving me and Scott stranded for almost 3 hours.

Still we had some great times as well. Scott rode Everest 4 times (I just couldn't do it) and he loved it. We also both really enjoyed the new Pirates, especially Davy Jones and the Seuss Trolly thingy at IOA. We have 1550 photos (in case you're wondering that adds up to 1.85Gb!) and a few hours of video, and that's before the ride photo, Halloween night photos, Dolphin photo, photopass pics and my mum's cameras too! We also have tons of souvinirs including the enormous free snowglobes that we ordered several months ago - so beautiful!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Scott took me to TGI Fridays last night but I was so jet lagged I just zoned out for half the meal. He got me a Haunted Mansion special edition pin (one of the boxed ones), a Muppets pin from the 35th anniversary line and a cuddly baby Pluto! Mum's knocking off about $150 from my souvenirs bill. To whoever commented on me timing it badly, I was there for my birthday last year and will be in the States for my 21st nwxt year hopefully. It's just a lot more crowded if we go over that week so we decided to avoid it this year.

Hope you've all been ok whilst we've been away. I'll be on and off this week as still pretty upset and trying to tidy the house and stuff. Need to start planning for next year now! Keep an eye out for the trippies once I'm capable of writing lucidly again.

xxx

Welcome back
soory to hear thngs didn't go to well with your mum
and that you didn't let it ruin all your holiday
Once you get over the jet lag hopefully things will look better

Holidaying with family can be quite hard

we done it last year and you just have to learn to keep your mouth shut :furious:

Hi! :wave2: Sending you a :grouphug: as sorry to hear you're so down - sometimes it's like that after a long-haul holiday but coping with your mum probably hasn't helped. Just focus on the high points of the holiday and think about planning the next one - that's what I always do!
Best wishes...

:grouphug: Hi Sophie, welcome home, sorry to hear that things didn't go too well with mum. I hope you and Scott had some special memories, that will look even better when the jet lag has worn off

Mandy :)

 Welcome back Sophie ~ Shame that you did not have a better time with your mum :grouphug: Hopefully the time with Scott more than made up for it :goodvibes

Hi Sohpie i know how you are feeling as you know we have been back since friday and i still feel lousy. It was great meeting you and Scott we are talking about going back next year so it would be good if we could meet up again. It was me who commented on your birthday but if you are there for your 21st that would be magical for you. I spent my 40t there and cried most of the day especially watching wishes. I hope things are ok with you and your mom now :thumbsup2

big hugs to you I know that is it hard work coping with family, mine have been a bit of a headfull this week, I hope you feel so much better when the jetlag wears off ...

Sorry to hear about your bad times; perhaps another holiday may make things better.. ;)

Mothers eh....

Sorry to hear you had bad times but hope the good ones far outweighed them :goodvibes

I, personally, am working on being the most difficult mum in existance once my kids are grown up - got to compete with my own mum.... :rotfl:

The good times most certainly exceeded the bad! I look forward to showing you all some of the totally daft photos there are of me once my brain re-engages and I can resize some of the photos. I think my current favourite is me and Scott in front of Cindy's coach during MNSSHP, we had it taken by the photpass guys and printed in Toontown that night and it's just such a sweet pic. Other favourites include me waltzing with Dale (we think it's Dale, might be Chip!) and at Chef Mickey's.

I'm also proud to say that my DIS Secret Santa gift has been bought so I'm ready to go (aren't you proud of me Mandy?) AND I'm currently working on a DIS quiz for the future.

Welcome home, Sophie. Sounds like it was a great trip all in all. We too had our picture with Cinderella's carriage, what a beautiful setting. Glad to hear your birthday was nice too, you got some lovely pressies.

Ouch! Sounds as though your Mum was a right pain in the butt. I'm guessing she might be about my age, too, so I hope I'm not such an embarrassment to my girls (21 and 18).

I'm sure you'll look back on it with fond memories, though. Hope you enjoyed your birthday. :grouphug:

Well done Sophie Pet, it's nice to see that I've whipped some of you into shape and got you started on your Crimbo shopping :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
