Just got back from Williamsburg, VA. I was looking for message boards like the DIS for Williamsburg, but can't find any!

So let's compare notes! Were you there, and what are your favorite things about it?

Any questions about it for me?

How many times did you ride Apollo's Chariot? I think we rode it 23 times in our 5 visits. The single rider's line was a great help.

Did you eat the strawberry shortcake? I think we had it at every meal.

Did you enjoy Haunted Lighthouse? Their timing with the water was fantastic.

Did you see the Clydesdale colt?

Did you like the smell of New France. It made me so hungry everytime we walked through there.

Did you see Imaginique?

That's enough for now:p

I am thinking about going there next year. Do you know of a nice hotel to stay in that is close to Busch Gardens? How are the crowds there in the summer?

I only went to the Colonial Williamsburg section, there's many places to stay there. As far as what's near Busch Gardens, I'm not sure.

We went to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Water Country and Busch Gardens in mid June. We ended up renting a wonderful timeshare (no sales presentation necessary) that was within 10-15 minutes of all attractions and right next door to Water Country. The places were beautiful! Here's the link:

We're thinking of going down in early November for three nights. Do you think that's enough time? Where did you stay? My friend told me to go to Embassy Suites. What kind of pass did you get?

Just a "head's up" that Busch Gardens is seasonal, and won't be open in November.;)

Thanks but I know about Busch Gardens; we weren't planning on going there.

We did a package called the Historic Triangle good for 5 days and it gets you into Jamestown and Yorktown too. WE stayed at the Governors Inn, about 5 blocks down from the Colonial Williamsburg.

Hey I was just down there this past weekend too! We did Busch Gardens (or should I say broken down gardens) and Water Country USA. Escape from Pompei broke down mid ride and we had to be taken out of the emergency exit. It seemed like every ride was broken down at some point, Alepgniest was down from opening until 2pm, Pompeii broke down at least 3 time, Big Bad Wolf twice plus a few more. Anyways it was still fun.

We stayed at Fairfield Kingsgate (a timeshare). We weren't very impressed with it and wouldn't really recommend it.

Williamsburg - did you walk around mostly, or go into the buildings. Did you attend any talks? What about restaurants? Did you shop?

Did you rent a car or have your own while you were there? I'd like to fly to Williamsburg and since I want to go to both the historic areas and Busch Gardens, I assume that we'll need a rental car?

Did you like the Governors Inn? Any memorable meals?

in colonial williamsburg, did you eat at any of the taverns? did you do any of the evening programs? which was you favorite house (if you went in to any)?

I'll try to answer everyone ...LOL

We drove from Philly so we had a car.

I ate at Chownings Tavern, Shields, and Christiana Campbells. All 3 were great in their own way. Chownings is more for drinking, C. Campbells is more for eating a big meal. All of them have live musicians , really pleasant!

Governors Inn was ok. Its plain and low budget, like WDW All Star hotels.

I toured the buildings, the Governors Palace is nice, so is the Wythe House. I also like talking to all the costumed crafts people.

We "attended" a slave wedding, and "enlisted" in the colonial Army! Both programs were a LOT of fun! They really get you involved, you are part of the show.

Goofygirl,

This is our vacation plan for next year. We are going with some friends that we really enjoy vacationing with. Can you tell me Do you think Colonial Williamsburg would be interesting to 2 girls ages 12 & 15?

toefungus,

What did you think of Water Country USA. We have a water country up here in NH but I don't much care for it as it is usually jam packed. How were the crowds/weather/prices?

Would you go again?
Thanks Lisa

Yes, since they are old enough to understand and appreciate history. The costumed people are really great at making it fun, and getting young people involved. I also think most young girls will enjoy looking at the clothing from that time, and buying/wearing the colonial hats too.
