We took our first trip to VB 4/5 -4/8, just hubby and I on this one!! Had a 1st floor studio in Building 14 - had hoped for a higher floor for a little view - but since we checked in around 1:00 p.m and this room was ready we happily took it. This resort is absolutely beautiful and the trip was wonderful, wanted to share a few thoughts.
- Until the main beach access is re-opened (and it still looked like they had a way to go) - try to request either the inn or building 14 or 15. The beach access is now all the way at the south side of the resort, very close to building 14 or 15 and the pool is only a 2 minute walk from these buildings also. There is a cut through to the beach that people were using from the north side of the resort, but you still would need to walk a good distance down the beach to reach the chair and umbrella rentals.
- no problem getting chairs or umbrellas on the beach, but the cabanas were all taken up taken up very early in the morning
- pool chairs are another story - they have the same problem as we have exprienceed on DCL - lots of chairs reserved for hours and hours with towels and no bodies using them. If you weren't at pool side by 10:00 a.m. it was a hunt to try to find anything available. One grandmother took up 5 chairs every day and there were never more than 2 used at one time during the entire day.
- food at pool side was very, very good - and not too badly priced either.
- seafood buffet - definitely go if you can - it was on Thursday night when we were there - food was excellent and all the King Crab legs you could eat. They suggested to us at check-in to make a PS if we wanted to go, which we did. The restuarant is very small - only holds 69 people total and we saw about 6 groups of people turned away at the door who did not make a PS reservation.
- Went to Captain Hermain's (sp) one night and the Ocean Grill the other - had very good food at both, but the Ocean Grill was definitely our favorite of the two.
- Town of Vero is very nice to walk about around - not large, but very some nice shops.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip - will definitely go back to this great resort.
