and loved it!!!

This was our first trip with our kids to Disney and our first stay at a Disney resort!

It was perfect! We arrived the day after Hurricane Charley. We called the Poly from NY the day we were leaving and they reported that all was A OK except for a few downed trees. They did close Animal Kingdom for the day.

Our flight was delayed a hour so we didn't arrive at the Poly until 6:00PM. As requested we got a ground floor room with a fridge. I was pleased with the patio and allowing the kids to go and play on the grass outside made the room feel bigger. The room was clean and everything was workable but I found it to be average. For $299 per night I guess I expected a little luxury but I guess the luxury is that you are staying on Disney property.

We attended a Character breakfast at the Ohana our first morning that was fantastic. The characters immediately came over to our table and our three kids were overjoyed!:earseek: The food was good and the atmosphere was great!

The accessability to the monorail and Magic Kingdom was awsome!

Then kids loved the Volcano pool and the slide! We always found chairs at the pool and enjoyed watching the fireworks from the pool and the beach. The staff at the Poly organized fun games in the pool such as basket ball and volleyball which my oldest son enjoyed.

Everyone there including the guests were fun and pleasant. Although next time I would like to try the GF or the Contemporary it's going to be hard to top the Poly.

Welcome Home!

I's so glad you loved the Poly. I can't wait to get back there ..... 8 weeks from today! :hyper:

Thanks for the report. Glad you enjoyed the Polynesian. Maybe next time you will be in the newly renovated rooms and you will feel more of the luxury you are looking for. They are going to redesign the entire room and add new furniture along with a 27” TV and a desk area but still keeping the two beds and a new day bed that folds up to a sitting area when not being used.

What longhouse were you in?

Aloha

Steve

Glad you had a good time. We went to the Poly almost by accident this July. We decided at the last minute to go to WDW, myself, DW and DS x2 and DD. We chose the CR from the brochure but could not get the dates we wanted so settled on the Poly as "second best". This turned out to be the best thing that happened, we absolutely loved it and are going back there next year for 17 nights. We visited the CR one day to see if we were mssing anything and we found the decor and atmosphere rather sterile (unlike the rest rooms, their cleanliness left a lot to be desired). So stick with the Poly!!!

W stayed in Aotearoa. We were never there before so we didn't know which Longhouse to request. Although Aotearoa was the furthest away from everything, the grounds were so beautiful we didn't mind walking. Especially at night when all the torches were lite. It was just breathtaking! I think next time we will request a ground floor pool view in Samoa for easy access for the kids!

Aloha!

I'm glad you enjoyed your first stay on property, and lucky you that it was at the Poly. We are staying there for the first time next Summer, and after reading some negative posts on the place, it's nice to get some positive feedback. Welcome home!:)
