We returned from the Poly Monday evening. We were LV concierge and had a great time. The CMs at the Poly were wonderful and our room was immaculate. The weather was hot and humid unlike the other times we've gone in October.

The games in the arcade room are gone. I don't know what's going in there if anything.

Tried to do some research on the refurbished buildings without going inside. The hallways are a cream color with coral accents by the doorways. They still have the pretty hallway carpets. The beds still have the canopies and from a distance the bedspreads look like they're still the same pattern. Not much help...sorry.

How is the Hawaii Building? Is it dated ? Wondering because it is going down for rehab smmer 2003. We have a GV concierge for Feb. 2003 and cannot wait to try it!! Any more info is appreciated. Joan:smooth:

The Hawaii building is fine. The rooms look fresh and the location is great. The one thing I've noticed in all three rooms we've been in in the past year is that there are soft spots in the floors. Probably one in each of the rooms we've been in...all on the ground floor. This doesn't detract at all from the room but I wonder if that kind of thing is why they need to do such extensive renovations. I think you'll have a great time in February.:D

Thanks for the review. We're going in February too (LV concierge), and we're so excited! :)

twixbar...such a cute little Buzz you have. I'm sure he'll love the Poly.

Did you view the fireworks from the lounge or beach? Did you eat at Captain Cook's?

Thanks!

Lori

How is the volcano pool? I've never seen it, just saw a picture of it in USA Today. Considering pool-hopping there (we're DVC members) and was wondering if it would be worth it. Looks beautiful in the picture.

eller...we watched the fireworks from our patio. However on our gardenview stays....concierge or not...we watch from the beach. We tried once from the concierge lounge on a previous trip and decided to go outside afterall. It's a fine view from the lounge. We just prefer outside.

Our kids had a cheeseburger and chicken strips from Captain Cooks on our CG night (they were scheduled to join us but wanted to stay in the room). It's typical kid's food.

With regards to fireworks: my DH and one of our DSs went down on 9/10 but my DD and I didn't go down until after school on Thursday. They picked us up at the airport and when we were about 1/4 mile from the MK parking booths, the fireworks started. We joked about how nice it was of WDW to welcome us:p , but seriously the Welcome to WDW sign was centered directly below the fireworks. It was beautiful. Disney's attention to detail never ceases to surprise me.

The volcano pool is very nice. The landscaping is beautiful. the zero entry is great for little ones. They've added a small basketball hoop that my son and lots of other boys love...some girls, too. It was there in June but not March. Our son has Downs Syndrome and it is heartwarming to see other boys include him (he's rather shy) after my husband tosses him a ball or two. I think a lot of pool hopping is occurring because it is always very crowded in the afternoon.

Have you done concierge before?? Did you think it was worth the extra $$?? Thanks!

tnkrbell..this is just our third time doing concierge out of 27 stays at the Poly...all three times with an AP rate. I personally would never pay the rack rate difference. The breakfast, pop, and water are real savings although we don't eat breakfast there everyday. The appetizers are great if you're around the resort at that hour as we usually are. The desserts and cordials are a very nice way to end the day. :D

I will be getting a great rate but its 40 more a night then a standard room so I was wondering if it was worth the extra! Are the room views nice??
YIKES BC you need to post quick!! Your post number right now is 666~!!

no games in game room? we are going end of month, kids will be disappointed, maybe they were just changing them. if not looks like the monorail over to cont.

tnkrbell...the room views I've seen are great in LV and GV but then I think almost all Poly views are great. How many are in your party? It is a very pleasant experience and if you already have a great rate then I'd probably go for it. It's very nice to feel a little pampered. BTW, I seem to be stuck on 666??? LOL

MBD1215...someone else posted that they were told that the games were being changed. It seems unusual to me to empty the room to change the games but who knows? Maybe it is easier to change them all at once???

buildings look particularly in need of a rehab?? I'm trying to decide whether to request GV at Fiji, Nuie or Tokelau!

TIA, and glad you had a great trip!

Well, Fiji was recently renovated. None of the buidings look bad from the outside but one time I was cutting through Raratonga and it did smell musty so I would avoid that one. Of your three choices, I'd request Tokelau if I were you. Nuie is very close to the GCH but a little too busy for me. Fiji is probably very nice but a little longer walk to the TTC. However the whole resort is not spread out like a moderate or value resort. Everything is within a very pleasant 10 minute walk I think.
