Hi all

Tam and I just got back from our cruise with Deb and Matt on the Norwegian Jewel.

Obscene amounts of food and drink were consumed and I don't think any of us are looking forward to getting on the scales for the first time.

We also spent one night in Miami and 2 nights in a beach cottage at Vero Beach, which was a very relaxing way to finish the holiday.

Thanks to Deb and Matt for being excellent company. Just the 2 weeks in Orlando in October to look forward to now. :thumbsup2

Hi Kev,
Welcome home to all of you. Glad you had such a good time and apparently the rest of the DIS is expecting a trippie as am I. You are a victim of your own success my friend :teeth:
To keep you informed (and to have a shameless plug) the Raglan Road meet has been booked for 6:30pm on 22nd October and I will bump the thread so you, Tam, Deb and Matt can have a squizz.
Hope to hear more from you soon and so glad you brought the glorious weather back with you ;)

Welcome home. Having just been on a P&O cruise myself, I'd be interested in your views on NCL.

Thanks folks.

No trip report this time I'm afraid.
However, I am considering putting a video up on my web site. I just have to spend a few weeks editing out all the 'not fit for general consumption' parts! ;)

Joh - yes, we did spend one night in the Celebration Hotel. I think it exceeded our expectations. It's quite small with a patio overlooking the lake out the back. I could easily spend a couple of days there in the future.

Susan - this was the second time at Vero Beach for me and Tam. It's a lovely resort, very peaceful and pretty. There is not a huge amount to do except enjoy the scenery and relax. Although we did have a 'games tournament' one day where we played mini-golf, air hockey, space invaders, basketball (with a tennis ball), shuffleboard and table tennis.
The beach cottages are starting to show their age a little inside, but the location is superb. Waking up in the morning to the sound of the sea crashing on the beach is wonderful.
It's a marvelous place to go as an antidote to the hustle and bustle of WDW. As Deb pointed out, there is actually very little evidence of Disney in terms of characters etc.

Gilld - the NCL Jewel was much prettier than we expected. Photos of it make it appear a little garish in places, but it was actually very nice in all the public areas. The only area that ever seemed to get too crowded was around the pools. The Freestyle Dining is much better than the the DCL version allowing you to choose which restaurants and times you choose to dine. The only downside of this is that you have to book the more popular restaurants as soon as you get on board, unless you have a suite (like Deb and Matt) then the butler does it for you!
We had aft facing staterooms. It was lovely to sit on the balcony and look out over the wake of the ship.
There is the usual stuff to do onboard and we made ample use of the martini and margarita clinics. Let me tell you, it's not easy having to drink 5 margarita's in 45 minutes. :thumbsup2
The ports of call were all good although my personal favourite was Antigua where we hired a car (eventually!) and drove round to see some of the quieter beaches. In case you're wondering, yes the sea is better than at Weston-Super-Mare. :teeth:

Claire - Raglan Road meet duly noted and booked into the itinerary.

Howdy y'all, had a cool trip with some fantastic people.

Agree that a trip report by Kev would be a VERY interesting read. Must admit that this might be down to the alcohol consumption, mostly by the Stringers, I, as may be expected, stayed teetotal all of the time.

As and when the video is completed I would highly recommend viewing it as I think it may be somewhat interesting.

Off to rest my liver now for 5 months or so, in readiness for our October trip.

Welcome back Kevin, Glad you all had a great time!

Dissapointed there's no trippie but as I have spent alot of time reading your previous reports I did notice that this adults only trip was to be reportless!

:teeth:
