Hi,

I just returned today from staying at the Beach Club Villa's and most of you probably remember my whole thing about being upgraded to the One Bedroom Villa from the Studio we had reserved - *in case you weren't a part of that discussion, I was checking my reservation online about a week before we left (checking it AGAIN :rotfl: ) and I noticed it changed from "Studio" to "One Bedroom" - so we didn't get our hopes up but I printed it out and figured i'd bring it with me hoping it wasn't just a mistake. So, we pull up to the Beach Club, which was perfect, as always and we go to where we check in - the lady was EXTREMELY rude and arrogant and practically yelled at us to approach the desk - NOT pleased with that - we were so excited to be at the Beach Club and Disney - and all of the sudden we get yelled at.

So, naturally we just checked in and didn't mention ANYTHING about upgrades - so, we go to our room (which was ready at 11:00am) and what do we have? A One Bedroom Villa! it was BEAUTIFUL! It kept things more private for us. There were 3 people total so we had a lot of space. Our balcony had a woods view and we saw the Beach Club straight ahead, and the villas to our left and right - and if we looked to our left over the tree's we could see the Eiffel Tower from Epcot which was very cool.

So, we were upgraded and we had a MAGICAL time. The crowds were REALLY low for August, but it was HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!

Congratulations :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have never checked my ressies. Is it easy to do? Not looking for an upgrade( already booked a 2 bedroom). Good thing because I have never received one but that is Ok. I just love being in Disney:):):)

yeah, if you booked from Disney you can look on their website - just register there and you can see your reservation.

Hi DisneyGuy,

Glad you had a great time! We will be at the BCV on Sept 10th. I have a few questions.

Are the restuarants convenient? Sometimes I feel that the BCV is not as close to the restaurants as if you stayed at the BC or YC resorts.

How long does it take to get to SOB, Boardwalk and Epcot?

Did you ever try to visit any other resorts (for dinner etc...) was the Disney transportation ok?

Thanks,

That's awesome, I am glad everything worked out and that you did end up getting the one bed room!

I have a question for you also, in the room you stayed in did you have a DVD player and or a radio?

Zen,

This site does state that there is a DVD player in the living room for the 1 and 2 bedroom villas. I don't know about a radio though.

Can I check online about my reservation if its through DVC? What is the website?

In all the times I have stayed on site at Disney, including cash stays and DVC stays, and for that matter the numerous times we have stayed off site anywhere, NEVER have I been treated rudely or witnessed anyone else checking in being treated rudely. I am not saying all of the folks that state they were so dissapointed in how they were treated are lying......but maybe your skin is thin? :confused3

I don't think the DVC reservations show up there. Also, your chances of being upgraded on points are VERY VERY slim...

GoofyBanker - YOU are LUCKY! I was going to reply to the OP that I have had so many NASTY front desk CM experiences, just let it roll - you're not alone. I have stayed over 30 times at WDW deluxes. This last trip I stayed at the GF (just returned from a main building concierge stay) and the lobby concierge staff was even a bit rude to me. I think Disney needs to realize that first impressions are important.

DisneyGuy
Glad it was a nice time & you got that great room!

Well this is a nice statement! Just because YOU have not witnessed it does not make it so. or make the OP "thin skinned" I actually have witnessed it and read other reports. (and trust me my skin is very thick, I am an auditor for a living!) There used to be a CM at AKL who had quite a reputation for example.

THANK YOU! Not everything about Disney is PERFECT - as much as I LOVE IT there, things have gone downhill since i've started going when I was 12. NOT ALL CM's are wonderful, while i'll admit most of them are...you DO get a bad or miserable one every so often. We're far from being "Thin Skinned" - if YOU get yelled at to approach the front desk and you let it roll off your back just because it's "disney" is not a good excuse! If you pay HUNDREDS of dollars to stay somewhere with this "Legedary" service you EXPECT it. This lady didn't even tell us our room number! I'm not saying you have to be perfect, *I'm a student who works in retail, I KNOW how we all have our bad days*, but you CAN'T take it out on customers, even the girl next to her looked SHOCKED. Millions of people go through Disney and check in to their hotels and up until NOW, i've never witnessed anything like it either, but I would never discredit someones claim because I have Disney on this "Magical" level. Things do happen, people are people.

To answer the other questions, Stormalong Bay is pretty close - maybe a 5 minute walk - we went through the BC lobby to get to it - You DO need your room key to get a wristband to swim there though and you get them at the Towel area from a CM....We ate at Beaches and Cream for ice cream which was very good and we went to the Yacht Club Galley for breakfast which we also enjoyed. The restaraunts aren't REAL close - and yeah they are closer if you are staying at the hotel, but the walk isn't killer or anything - the Villa's are pretty much connected to BC. The walk to Epcot was only about 7 minutes - not bad at all. The Boardwalk is also very close and you can easily walk it with no problems.

Disney transportation was pretty good - we love the Epcot resorts because you can walk to Epcot and walk/boat over to MGM - We are not fans of the bus service though. At times, it seems as if there is ONE bus for the Swan and Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and BCV (which is a given with the BC stop) but that's A LOT of hotels for one bus. They pack us all in in the grand Disney fashion - we only had maybe one bad bus ride though - then it seemed the added more busses and seperated Swan and Dolphin/Boardwalk from the Y&B bus. On our way back from MK, we saw 3 busses for S/D, and Boardwalk go by before ours, so we got on the Boardwalk one and just walked back - it ended up being faster. The bus system is decent, but not our favorite. One night it took us 35 minutes to get to MK.

We used Magical Express which I have to say I was pleased with. We got to the airport in Orlando, checked in easily, got on our bus, made one stop at CB, and then to the Beach Club. Our bags were in our rooms that night when we got back from MGM. Worked very well on the way home also.

So, all in all we had a wonderful time, and I can't wait to go back. I'm still seeing Mickey's everywhere :rotfl:

if anyone has any questions, let me know.

The room did have a DVD player, and a clock radio.

We weren't staying on points - we paid as if it were just a regular hotel stay -so mousekeeping was excellent every day.

I have be visiting WDW for 34 years, staying on property for many of those years, only once have I encountered a rude Cast Member it was while checking in at Wilderness Lodge.

As always we where excited about being at Disney, while waiting I said I loved the Lodge and that it was my favorite resort. He said "Really (very snooty) I just transfered over from the BC and prefer the Beach Club."

He then informed me that we had been upgraded to Concierge Level but the room wasn't ready. I was overwhelmed but thanked him. He said, "Don't thank me I wouldn't have given you a upgrade." I said "Well over here at the Wilderness Lodge we still thank people if they have done us a service, rather they are rude or not."

DisneyGuy
Great upgrade congrats.

Now don't start throwing fireballs.....I just read alot about how people are dissappointed with their rooms because the counter had a scratch on it....I honestly think many (not all, CarolA or no disrespect Disneyguy) have unreasonable expectations. I have been very observant looking for those instances of rudeness that I have often heard about and I guess been very fortunate because as I stated previously, never heard it and have never been a recipient of rude CM behavior. And as one poster just stated, 34 years of Disney and only one instance of rude behavior.....much better than average I would say. :)

I agree.::yes:: I only thought it was funny because the cast member said he had just transferd from the BC, I have stayed at the BC/BCV and had no problems but you just never know.

ok, however, friendly, or at least attention at check in is not so much an "expectation" as it should be a reality. I saw wear and tear on the hotel/villas but i'm not complaining about that - not every little "scratch" bothers me or most people - these things happen - but when it comes to customer service, certain things are just not appropriate. She didn't have to be the most friendly person in the world, but she went overboard. I'm not blaming Disney, and I also didn't come here just to talk about that ONE inciddent - I simply mentioned it in a post with everything else being a pleasant surprise.

Point taken! I agree, check in should be the time when the CM's should be OVERLY friendly, and I have found them to be so in all my travels there, but understand that maybe not everyone may have been so lucky. I just get a bit tired of all the "Disney Bashing" that OFTEN happens on this board. As I have read some of those bashings, I often think, if it's that bad or troublesome, why do those people keep going back to Disney????? I will not mention some of the screen names that I can show you repeatedly post bash after bash about the "no welcome home" upon check in, or the dirty glass left in the bathroom and how it "ruined" their trip or the banged up facilities...etc on and on and on! :earseek: However, I am very pleased to hear of your very nice upgrade and honestly did not mean you any disrespect.

thank you, and I am glad you don't find me to be a complianer and so on. Now, I agree, a dirty glass or something like that is NOT enough to warrant a ruined trip - it's gross, but these things do happen. Yeah, there is some Disney bashing on this board, some warranted, some not. Certain things are beyond their control, and also, people need to understand the volume of people going to these resorts and the SEASON you are there. Trust me, one or 100 rude cm's will NEVER keep me away from DisneyWorld - and this is where Disney wins :rotfl:

the yacht club has the best buffet for dinner. The Cape May I believe its called. We've beent here several times. I even think they have a character breakfast?? The part of the buffet for the kids the counter is lowered so they can serve themselves. We love that feature!!! so cute...
