DH & I had a good time. The weather, on the other hand, wasn't that great. When we arrived the Friday before it was 50 degrees and WINDY! It was only about 60 when boarded on Saturday. They told us temperatures for the most part were below normal, so if you are cruising soon, you might want to have a light jacket on hand.

We stayed at the Hyatt and used Disney Bus Transportation to Port. I am all about convenience and this was the best. When talking with other cruisers that stayed at the Hyatt even if you didn't use Disney transportation, you could still have your luggage picked up from your room and delivered to the ship.

Seas were very rough the first few days. We had 8 - 13 foot waves for a good part of the first few days. If you tend to get motion sickness, I recommend having either Dramamine or Bonine and Sea bands as well. I get motion sickness at the drop of a hat and I had to use both. I missed dinner the first night due to sea sickness. It was very windy for most of the cruise. There were children literally being blown down the deck. If you ate at Pluto's, you had to hold on to your food or it was blown away. I was too slow one day and my French Fries were blown right off of my plate.

We did the Bridge Tour, it took about 20 minutes. It was interesting to see the bridge. They only do it on port days and it didn't appear that too many people took the tour. There were plenty of times available. You may or may not be able to take pictures. I happily snapped away, while our tablemates, were not allowed to take photos on their tour.

We also did the Galley Tour. That was offered on Thursday. Again, it lasted about 20 minutes. If you have nothing to do at the time, it's not too bad of a tour. The galley isn't as big as you would think it should be.

We didn't do any excursions, except for the Royal Swim with the Dolphins in Cozumel. This made my entire trip. It was absolutely the best experience I could have hoped for. I booked this outside of Disney, but it is with the same company that does the encounters. Their website is www.dolphindiscovery.com. It cost $120 per adult. You were kissed by the dolphins, pulled by the dolphins, and pushed by the dolphins. You also get "play" time with them, when they just swim around you. I believe childeren had to be 8 years old to do this swim. If you ever wanted to get up close and personal with a dolphin, this is the thing for you.

We had brunch at Palo. It was simply awesome! I can't think of another way to describe it.

As for movies, they were running Miracle, Calendar Girls, Brother Bear, Pirates, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Hildago, and there some others, but I can't remember them right now.

I can't think of anything else right now. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them.

Sounds like a great trip! I have always wanted to swim with the
dolphins! I am so jealous!

Glad you had a great time!

Wow, thx for sharing. That wind can be really annoying. How was your weather when you arrived in Cozumel? Did it improve?? How were the other ports?

We also did the 2/28. My favorites were bookended--Key West and Castaway Cay. We did the Captain Marvin's Stingray tour and the Disney Jeep Tour. Really enjoyed both. The tequilla bar and Senior Frogs in Cozumel was great also! Can't complain about the weather since we left 40 degrees.
Only problem was, we had to come back home!

"There were children literally being blown down the deck."

That sounds pretty scary. And I can't believe it's 50 - 60. I was expecting 75-82! :(

The temperatures did get higher as the week went on, but the wind was still with us most of the week. I think the best day was Friday, Castaway Cay. The sun was out all day, not too many clouds until the afternoon. There was still a slight wind, but that helped keep you cool. It was a little rough getting back in after snorkling. The current keep pushing you back to sea.

I was also on a 2/28 cruise from Port Canaveral, but on a Holland America ship. We also had very rough seas, and I felt rather dizzy the first 2 days, in spite of taking Bonine. It was my first cruise, and many people told me it's usually not that rocky!

Glad you had a great time.

I was too on the Magic Feb 28.

It was my second cruise. I was sick on the first one. For this cruise, I went to have an acupuncture treatment with my 2 DD's before to go. IT IS WORKING.... Even it was rocking a lot, the three of us wasn't sick at all.

We did the Stingray in Grand Cayman and the Royal swim with the dolphins in Cozumel. We loved our week even if it was windy.

Our servers were Sachin from India and Botond from Hungary. The head server was Jeff from Kenya. They were fantastic.

I was on the Magic 2/28 also. Just wanted to let people know that they have free Bonine pills outside the medical facilities. I took them as preventative a few times and didn't have any problems. DH and 2 DSs didn't take anything and were fine.

We had a fantastic time too.

I have 3 older teens and my DH and I. Do you recommend the jeep tour for a group like ours?

jlawall,

We did the jeep tour as a Disney trip. We had a blast! It was me, and two 17 year old teens. It had rained the day before, and boy did we have fun speeding through those mud puddles! The "jeeps" only hold 4 people, so you would need to split up your party. The only problem with this is most likely you would be paired up with some other people. My girls were very upset that they could not drive. I would have had to sign a waiver since they were not 21, and when I questioned him on this, he said "you know, if the side mirror is scratched or something like that, you would be completely responsible to pay" With an adult driving, you are covered just as you are. I took one look at the jeep which was already trashed, laughed, and said sorry to my girls.

We did the jeep tour with Disney last August....what a blast!!!! It was dry when we went but you could see the mud stains all up on the foliage!!! It was one of the best excursions I ever took....so bumpy that my watch flew off my arm!!!

We were also on the 2/28 trip. I wondered about the wind, we rarely get it, but all the web cam pictures I've ever seen of the carribbean show the palm trees in the wind.

I thought the weather greatly improved after that first day. But the wind was such that we didn't use the pools much. Didn't stop a lot of people though.

We did the Western Union Schooner Sunset Sail in Key West, the Nativeway Water Sports Swim/Snorkel, and the Dolphin Encounter at Cozumel. All were wonderful, even the sunset sail in fairly rough waters, the crew was awesome, as was the sunset. The folks from Nativeway were great, and the Dolphin encounter was the highlight of my kids' vacation (DD6, DS9).

My husband is a shopaholic so he had a grand time in Cozumel.

All in all we had a most MAGICal time, and I hear there was a little blizzard here at home while we were gone, oh darn ;)

How did you like the Western Union Schooner? Do you think teen boys would enjoy it?? There are two of them; one is during the day, the other is the sunset sail, do you think the sunset sail was nicer than the daytime sail would be? Thanks!

We were on the 2/28 also. It was our first cruise and a fantastic experience.

We enjoyed the brunch at Palo's the best of the three events there. We did the stringray city and dophin encounter. Both were fantastic!

Bonine definitely helps with the seasickness and it was rough the first night. Watching the curtain on stage sway back and forth did not help at all. I didn't really enjoy my meal, but our assistant server was wonderful and brought me lots of sprite and crackers!

We are also staying at the Hyatt at MCO and taking the Disney bus to the ship. What time did you arrive at the ship? We've taken the Disney bus to WDW but we are only cruising this time.

I wonder if we were in the same Royal Swim? I did the 3:30 swim.

Disney 1992- my family is signed up for the Royal Swim at 3:30pm on our Western in June. How did that time work out for you? What did you do before and after? Cozumel sounds wonderful, and I would like to try another excursion in the morning, but maybe we should just head over to the Park earlier and enjoy being there rather than trying to jam in another outing.
Thanks,
Kathy

Arrival time at Port when staying at the MCO Hyatt... That depends on when you check in at the Hyatt. We were told to report to the Lobby in the Hyatt between 9:30 - 10:30 Saturday morning. The cruise reps check you in and then assign you to a bus. It appeared that the buses were running every 15 minutes. We were on the 10:15 bus and were at port by 11. They started boarding at 12:30. When you check in at the Hyatt tell them you are taking the Disney Cruise. They will give you an envelope that tells you everything you need to know, time to have your bags out and when to report in the morning. I thought the whole process was very hassle free.

Cozumel:
Doing an excursion in the morning might be risky. A friend has my Navigators, so I'm guessing on this time, but I didn't think you could get off the ship until 10. You have to report for your swim by 3:00 PM. It's about a 15 minute taxi ride to the park. Even though the taxi stand is across from the docks, it took us about 20 minutes to get a cab. No one wanted to take a party of 2 it seemed. A taxi van driver finally let us in because he was working his way down the road. So you want to allow some time for getting a ride. We just walked up and down the strip and did a little shopping in the morning. We then went back on board, had a long, quite lunch with just the two of us and then headed out again. We got to the park by 2:30 and was able to see the Royal Swim ahead of us. That let us see what was going to happen. After seeing what was going to happen, DH decided not to do the swim. For me, it was a thrill of a lifetime and I would do it again in a heartbeat. As for afterwards, the park was closing, so we headed back to the ship and got ready for the evening. But you do have plenty of time to go out on the town if you want. The price for the video was more than what was quoted in my confirmation email, by about $20. So keep that in mind.
